Amid this, a section of social media users has come forward to defend Siya. Now, Shekhar Kapur’s ex-wife, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, strongly reacted to the following.
Suchitra Krishnamoorthi slams the social media users who defended Siya Goyal amid the investigation into Ketan Agarwal's murder case
Soon after Siya Goyal’s heinous crimes came to light, the internet was left divided. While a section of social media users criticised her actions, another section defended her and shared that she might have been forced to get married to Ketan and thus took the drastic step. Recently, a user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote:
"If Siya and Chetan were in America or Europe, then they would have been living together. No, Ketan would get access to her, forget marriage. Forced marriage is wrong."
This comment didn’t go well with Shekhar Kapur’s ex-wife, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi. Slamming the user, Suchitra shared that no culture could justify criminal behaviour. She mentioned that Siya had both legal and personal options to call off her wedding to Ketan. She wrote:
"No culture can justify criminal behaviour. Shame on you and everyone who is trying to justify such criminal behaviour. She could have run away, she could have eloped, she could have filed a case against her family too to force her into marriage against her consent. But to pre-plan and push her fiancé to his death off a cliff- that is the mind of a psychopath."

On June 26, 2026, Siya Goyal reportedly opened up about the reason behind killing her fiance, Ketan Agarwal. According to a report by The Wall, Siya told the police that her fiance was bald and used a wig. She mentioned that Ketan’s baldness bothered her a lot. Siya claimed that Ketan’s baldness was not known to many. In fact, he also allegedly had a stammering problem. However, Siya’s family had no issues with Ketan’s baldness and stammering problem and thus decided to marry off Siya. But she never liked Ketan.
While the cops asked Siya why she didn’t call off the wedding instead of killing Ketan, she told them that she didn’t want to hurt her family. She also added that her family’s reputation would have been ruined if the marriage had been broken. Thus, for her, the easiest solution to the problem was to kill Ketan. It is worth mentioning that Siya made multiple attempts to kill Ketan and took him to the same Lohagad Fort. In fact, she also dumped his passport in a female washroom before they left for Bali for their pre-wedding shoot.

Actress, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi has often grabbed the limelight for her personal life. She was married to renowned filmmaker, Shekhar Kapur, when she was 22. She reportedly met Shekhar when she was 19. Suchitra’s family was against her decision to marry Shekhar as he was of her mother’s age at that time and was a divorcee. However, her married life with Shekhar was not a happy one. In a 2023 interview, Suchitra revealed that Shekhar cheated on her during their marriage. During their marriage, the couple welcomed a baby girl named Kaveri.
