Veteran actress, Sharmila Tagore is known for her natural acting style, subtle expressions, and ability to portray complex emotions on screen. She is also known for her beauty and grace, which made her one of the most sought-after actresses of her time. Sharmila Tagore made her comeback with her film, Gulmohar which has been released on OTT Disney Plus Hotstar. Recently in an interview, Sharmila Tagore opened up about her relationship with her children and grandchildren.

In a recent interview with NDTV, actress, Sharmila Tagore opened up about whether her three children, Soha Ali Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Saba Ali Khan Pataudi and her grandchildren, Sara Ali Khan, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Taimur Ali Khan, Jeh Ali Khan and Inaaya Kemmu prefer sharing their problems with her or not. Opening about the same, she said:

"I think they do. I have two big grandkids and the others are very small. But even little Inaaya wrote me a little letter saying, 'You are super and stay super'. Now that's really big. It's that sort of thing. You know when to help and when not to help. I remember taking Soha to school and one boy came and pushed her. She fell down and I was ready to fight the battle. But before I could do that Soha got up and pushed the boy right back. So, I said, 'Okay, I don't have to get involved in this."

In the same conversation, Sharmila further said that she has always left a door open for their kids as a senior family member. However, it's up to them whether they want to talk to her or not. Talking about the same, Sharmila said:

"When you have a family, you stay tuned and you try and help each other. I think as the senior person, you have to leave your door open. And if they want to talk to you, they will and if they don't want to talk to you, they won't. But you always know what is happening and you can throw hints here and there and be available in case you want."

In the same interview, Sharmila Tagore revealed that when she got married to Mansoor Ali Khan at the height of her career, everyone was against it. Revealing how she had not given up on her work and family, Sharmila added:

"When I got married at the height of my career, everybody said that it's very stupid to get married at this stage, you won't be accepted. Others said that their marriage will break up if you continue to work. But it didn't happen the way they predicted. So I think it was meant to be. I couldn't give up work and I couldn't give up my family."

Going further in the interview, the veteran actress revealed how important her family was to her when she got married. She further mentioned that besides her career, her family too was important to her. Elaborating on the same, she shared:  

"When I came back home one night, everybody was asleep. I realised that I needed to wake up people and wanting to talk to them because I knew at that point that I couldn't be a single career person. Family was very important to me. And I wanted both. And it's not easy always. You need other people's support also, which you get it. But if you want something, then you have to work for it. And I did and I think I can say that I got what I wanted."

For the unversed, In 1968, Sharmila Tagore had tied the knot with the legendary cricketer, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. They were blessed with three kids, Saif Ali Khan, Saba Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan.
