Search for mother-daughter relationship on the internet and most of the article would emphasise the fact that they are each other's best friends. In a daughter, a mother finds a forever friend and for the little one, her mom becomes her first BFF. It stands true for actor, Sanjay Kapoor's wife, Maheep Kapoor and their daughter, Shanaya Kapoor, who are proclaimed besties. In 1998, three years after making his debut in the film industry, Sanjay had tied the knot with his longtime NRI girlfriend, Maheep, proving his link-up reports with co-stars Sushmita Sen and Tabu to be just baseless rumours. In 1999, Sanjay and Maheep embraced parenthood with the arrival of a little angel, Shanaya Kapoor and in 2005, the couple was blessed with a baby boy, Jahaan Kapoor.
After Janhvi Kapoor, fans were expecting her cousin and Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor's daughter, Shanaya Kapoor to make her acting debut. But Shanaya didn't step into Bollywood as an actress as she was an assistant director to Sharan Sharma in the film, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl starring her cousin, Janhvi. It was a proud moment for Sanjay and Maheep, and to mark the success of the film and the beginning of their daughter's journey in Bollywood, the doting mommy had written, "Learning the ropes #SweetestTeamEver #AssistantDirector #KargilGirl."
On Maheep Kapoor's birthday, her husband, Sanjay Kapoor and daughter, Shanaya Kapoor went down memory lane to post throwback pictures from their archive to wish her on her special day. Sanjay posted then-and-now pictures of his date with Maheep and a family picture with Shanaya and Jahaan in the frame. He captioned his post as "Happy birthday" followed by two heart emojis. Shanaya posted a solo picture of her mother from one of their vacations, two from her childhood and a major throwback of Maheep, flaunting her baby bump. Shanaya captioned the pictures as "Happy birthday bestie I love you mumma." Maheep replied on her post, "Love you my pumpkin."
Maheep Kapoor had made her acting debut with the Netflix series, Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives and in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, she had expressed her views on the notion of Bollywood wives being the 'shadow of their husbands'. Giving an example of Twinkle Khanna and Gauri Khan, who are strong women with their own achievements, Maheep had said, "This misconception about Bollywood wives being the shadow of their husbands... I find it still surprising that we have to prove a point to people. I just feel that when I am around these women who are married to actors, whether it is Gauri Khan, Twinkle Khanna or Mira Kapoor... They are strong women, they have identities of their own. They are mothers and working women."
Born to film producer, Surinder Kapoor and Nirmal Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor is the youngest of his star brothers, Boney Kapoor and Anil Kapoor, and their sister, Reena Marwah. Sanjay had made his debut in the Hindi film industry with the movie, Prem in 1995 but gained recognition with Raja, in which he had starred opposite Madhuri Dixit. His journey in the film industry has been a roller-coaster ride in which he had faced his fair share of low phases. During a chat with Neelam Kothari on the show, Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, Maheep Kapoor had spoken about the same and was quoted as saying, "I've lived it with my husband. It was tough on him. But you know what? We as a unit as a couple, I think. forget about me it was for him to be positive and not bring it back home. And he didn’t."
Revealing how her husband, Sanjay Kapoor and their kids, Shanaya Kapoor and Jahaan Kapoor had convinced her to do Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives when she was having second thoughts about doing the show, Maheep Kapoor had said in an interview with The Telegraph, "We didn't go looking for the show... the show came to us. My first reaction was, 'Oh my God! Will people make fun of me?' But I spoke to my children (Shanaya and Jahan) and my husband, and Shanaya told me, 'Listen mom, life is too short... you have to live this adventure. You are doing this with your friends and you have stories to tell'. Jahan is a boy of few words... he just told me, 'You don't say no to Dharmatic and Netflix."
Here's wishing a very happy birthday to Maheep!
