As a 90s kid, every girl was madly in love with the chocolate boy of 2000s, Ishq Vishk fame, Shahid Kapoor, who became everyone’s crush and still is! Pankaj Kapur’s first wife, Neliima Azeem and second wife, Supriya Pathak along with their children, Shahid Kapoor, Sanah Kapur, Ruhaan Kapur, Ishaan Khatter share a warm relationship with each other. Shahid not only shares a warm bond with his half-sibling, Ishaan but also with step-father, Rajesh Khatter, who was married to Neliima Azeem. However, Rajesh and Shahid don’t talk much about each other, but in an interview earlier, Rajesh defined his bond with Shahid, “of love and affection”.
Proof of the same was given by Rajesh Khatter on February 25, 2019, when his step-son, Shahid Kapoor turned a year older and he wished him on his birthday. Sharing a heartfelt message for Shahid, Rajesh wrote on his Instagram handle, “From being a good looking teenager to the most good looking young man. From being the most promising newcomer to an award winning mega star, from being a loving husband to a doting father, ur journey has been nothing short of inspirational. U have evolved to be a complete performer & an exceptional human being & make all around you super proud #happybirthday @shahidkapoor #shahidkapoor Have a blessed one & #keepshining”.
When Shahid Kapoor married a Delhi-based girl, Mira Rajput in 2015, Rajesh Khatter was completely involved in the preparations and celebrations. Rajesh’s current wife and Dil Dhadakne Do fame actress, Vandana Sajnani, whom he married after his divorce with Neliima, shared in an interview earlier, “Rajesh is part of the whole thing. He is in talks with Shahid and they are currently in the process of locking certain things. It’s a big day for the family and we will be there to bless the couple if we are in the country and not travelling overseas for work at that time.”
Despite the separation of parents, Pankaj Kapur and Neliima Azeem and their respective second marriages with Supriya Pathak and Rajesh Khatter, Shahid Kapoor being the eldest child handled the situation quite maturely. Shahid, on Koffee With Karan, spoke about being a modern family and how they have managed to be one big happy family despite separations and second marriages. The Padmaavat actor shared, “When my mom got married for the second time she was pretty clear she didn’t want a second baby because she felt like, you know, it was pretty late, she got married in her early 30s. I kept pestering her saying that it is not fair, I deserve a sibling. And she literally had Ishaan for me. I begged her for two or three years. And finally she gave in and said ‘Alright, I am gonna have one.”
Speaking about what the family has been through over the years, Shahid shared he has learnt from all the experiences and they have made him who he is. He stated, “I think eventually it is about love, it is about togetherness, it is about forgiving, it’s about learning to move on and it’s about learning to prioritize the fact that you eventually have to be together.”
Earlier in an interview with Pinkvilla, Neliima Azeem praised and gushed over how wonderfully, her two boys, Shahid and Ishaan have grown up and the struggles she had to face being a single mother. She had stated, “My stress was over. I was a single mother and till today he is taking care of Ishaan and me in every way. He is like 'hats off'! Shahid has worked very hard and has had a very challenging journey and the thing about both my boys is that they are very good sons, very honest and clean and extremely vulnerable. Ishaan is more like joyous and has his own energy. All I can say is, both of them have been sparkling in their own times. Ishaan has been very fortunate that he started with Majid Majidi and then Dharma, with Shashank and Karan with him so, Mashallah, he had a quicker and faster journey and I suppose the younger ones do have it that way while the elder ones do create a little more hard work for themselves. That's the way it’s always been. But both of them are wonderful.” (Also Read: Neelima Azim Talks About Being A Single Mother And How Big Bro Shahid Guided Little Brother Ishaan)
