The duo's breakup sent shockwaves in the Hindi film industry, leaving their fans shattered. Shahid and Kareena were madly in love and were even planning to get engaged, but they ended up parting ways due to the reasons best known to them.
Ever since Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor's breakup, everyone is curious to know what led to the separation of the lovey-dovey couple. According to a report in DNA, one of Shahid’s close friends had claimed that Kareena was responsible for their split. When Shahid decided to tie the knot with Mira Rajput, Kareena Kapoor Khan announced to the media that she was happy for her ex-boyfriend and would attend his marriage also. Taking a dig at Kareena's statement back then, the actor’s friend stated:
“We were really surprised to read one of his very prominent former girlfriends talking about being invited to his wedding. Has she forgotten how she behaved with him?”

The source further revealed that Kareena had reportedly cheated upon the actor then, which led Shahid to end their relationship for real. Elaborating on the same, the source shared that when Kareena went on an outdoor shooting with one of her co-stars, she had a secret fling with the latter. And when she returned to Mumbai, Shahid came to know about it, but she pretended as if everything was normal. The friend added:
“She went on an outdoor shooting with one of her co-stars, had what she thought was a secret fling with her co-star and came back to Mumbai to Shahid as if everything was normal. Shahid got to know about the ‘secret fling’ and refused to take her back. And now she wants to be invited to the wedding? What a cruel joke!”
If rumours are to be believed, Kareena Kapoor reportedly had a ‘secret fling’ with her Tashan co-star, Saif Ali Khan, while she was dating Shahid Kapoor. The actress was spending a lot of time with Saif after the movie’s shoot, and when Shahid realised what Kareena was up to, he decided to end their three-year-old relationship. During his appearance on Neha Dhupia’s candid chat show, Bollywood’s BFFs, Shahid Kapoor was asked if anyone has ever cheated on him. To which, Shahid revealed:
“I am sure about one, I have major doubts about another one. I cannot name them.”

Every heartbreak comes with its own turmoil, and Shahid Kapoor too went through a painful phase in his life when he parted ways with Kareena Kapoor. In a throwback interview with Bombay Times, Shahid Kapoor revealed that it hurt him to see his ex, Kareena with Saif Ali Khan. However, the actor further added that he would cherish the good memories he had with Kareena and would move on in his life. In his words:
"It will be dishonest to say that this doesn't affect me. I am human, it hurts to see and read this all the time. I guess I have no choice but to live and deal with it. I'll cherish the good memories of that relationship and move on. That's what I'm doing - looking at the positive side and trying to be happy."
