Shah Rukh Khan, who took a sabbatical from acting in 2018, revealed the reason behind the same at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia. The actor, who took a break after his last film, Zero revealed that he wanted to spend quality time with his kids, which he otherwise never gets. Calling it the happiest phase of his life, Shah Rukh revealed that he and his younger son, AbRam learned Italian cooking.
Talking to the Deadline, Shah Rukh Khan revealed that since his daughter, Suhana had been transferred from London to New York University, the actor was worried that she might feel lonely. Revealing how it would have been difficult for him to spend time with her while shooting, Shah Rukh took a break. Talking about the same, the actor revealed:
“What I realised is when kids go far to study, if they call upon you and you’re in the middle of a shooting schedule, you can’t just leave and go to America. So, only their mother would go… When she (Suhana) transferred from London to New York, I thought I’ll keep six or seven months; she may feel lonely in New York, she may want me to come, and if the wife can’t go, I’ll say I’ll go, I’m free. If you’re making films and you’re in a look, it becomes difficult to just fly down.”

However, Suhana’s reaction came as a surprise to the actor as she never called him to New York to spend time with her. In his words:
“She never called me. I didn’t sign any films and I thought, ‘Maybe she’ll call me, maybe she’ll call me.’ So, I called her one day and said, ‘Listen, may I start working now?’ and she said, ‘Why aren’t you working?’ And I said, ‘I thought you’d call me and feel lonely in New York.’ She said, ‘No, I’m having too much fun, you please stay away from here.”

Shah Rukh Khan is a doting dad, who loves spending time with his kids, Aryan, Suhana and AbRam. The handsome actor never misses an opportunity to mark his presence at every milestone of his children’s life even amid his busy schedule. A few weeks back, Shah Rukh attended the Sharjah International Book Fair and was honoured with the Global Icon and Cultural Narrative award at the event in Sharjah. At the event when the interviewer asked him what according to him his late parents would have thought about his achievements and immense fandom. The actor replied that before anything else, they would have been proud of the way he raised his three children.
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will be next seen in the much-anticipated film, Pathan.
