For the unversed, Serena made a comeback after four years. Well, a while ago, the icon revealed that she is required to withdraw from Wimbledon doubles after suffering a terrible knee injury. Along with it, she also shared an update on her health, which has left her fans worried.
Serena Williams withdraws from Wimbledon doubles
A while ago, tennis icon, Serena Willaims took to her Instagram handle to share a heartbreaking update about her comeback. She shared a series of photos and videos and revealed that she is withdrawing from Wimbledon doubles, moments before her next match. She explained that her knee injury is preventing her to play. She also expressed gratitude towards the entire team, who gave her the opportunity to make a comeback. A part of her note can be read as:
"I’m heartbroken to have to withdraw from doubles. Coming back to compete again has been a gift, and the opportunity to play alongside @venuswilliams once more meant the world to me. I did everything I could to be ready, but unfortunately my knee just isn’t ready to compete. I’m especially grateful to tournament director, Jamie Baker, and the entire tournament team for giving me every opportunity to play here. Thank you to the fans for your incredible support and for making this comeback so meaningful…All I can say is stay tuned to a city near you."

Serena Williams shares an update about her knee injury
Further, Serena also spoke about her knee injury and explained that she is trying her best to recover as soon as possible. She shared photos of a few syringes with some yellow fluid in it. Talking about it, she stated that the fluid has been drained from her knee. Giving a health update, Serena wrote:
"The photo of the syringes shows the fluid they drained from my knee after my singles match…yikes! The good news is my knee shouldn’t swell or collect that much fluid again. The bad news is that, as hard as I tried, I just wasn’t able to get it ready for doubles."

For those who do not know, Serena suffered an injury on her right knee, during the first round of her Wimbledon match. Even though she was expected to recover, her injury has unfortunately not improved, forcing her to withdraw. It is also worth noting that this is not the first time Serena has been severely injured. Over the years, the legendary player has often withdrawn from matches due to knee injuries.

Within minutes of Serena Williams sharing a heartbreaking update, netizens rushed to the comment section to shower love on her and pray for her recovery. One user commented, "We love you and have enjoyed every minute of your return!" Another user shared, "I’m so sorry my love." A third user penned, "Looking forward to seeing you back out there with @venuswilliams once you're better!" Apart from them, athlete, Lindsay Vonn wrote, "That’s a solid fluid count damn."
