Tennis legend, Serena Williams opens up about tweaking her right knee at 44 during her Wimbledon comeback

Tennis star Serena Williams' agent, Jill Smoller, had stated that the 44-year-old has not been ruled out from her doubles appearance at Wimbledon. Serena returned to the court on June 30, 2026, after four years, but lost to Australian teenager, Maya Joint. Serena, in her post-match interview, said her right knee was tweaked. In her words:

"I tweaked my knee late in the first set, but I’ll be doing everything I can to be ready for doubles with @venuswilliams. It felt so good to be back on the grass at @wimbledon. I’m incredibly thankful for the wild card - and even more grateful my daughters got to see that it’s never too late to chase something you love."

Serena also congratulated her opponent, Maya Joint, on a great match and thanked everyone for showing up with so much love. That is the feeling that will never get old. Well, Serena's agent had earlier mentioned how she had tweaked her right knee at the end of the first set and was therefore excused from her media obligations by the Wimbledon and WTA medical teams.
