It would be an understatement if we say that we are excited to witness Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter, Sara Ali Khan shine on the silver screen. Rarely does it happen when a debutante wins over the audience before the release for their film. And if you have any doubt regarding her potential, then you must watch her during the promotions of Kedarnath, on a singing reality show. During the promotions of Kedarnath, Sara was presented with this special gift on the singing reality show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2018. Therein, Sara received her half-brother, Taimur Ali Khan inspired doll with the utmost love and hugged it the moment she got it, and the alacrity with which she handled herself was really commendable. In an interview with Zoom, Sara Ali Khan talked about her first encounter with Taimur’s look-alike doll.
Sara stated, “So, we were on this reality show called Sa Re Ga Ma and they gave me this doll. I think they realised that in front of Amit sir (Amit Trivedi) and Sushant (Singh Rajput) they shouldn't do this because they'll turn around and say this, "It's a bit awkward." But, "Sara is Sara and she'll take it so, let's just do it". And they have given me this doll and said, "doodh pilaao bachche ko" and this that and the other and I was like, "What's going on!" I was like, "There is this lookalike of my baby brother in my hands and there are these bottles of doodh and it was just...”
To this, her Kedarnath co-star, Sushant Singh Rajput intervened and asked her, “It was actually a lookalike?” Sara replied, “Arey, ya there is a Taimur doll. It's a lookalike of Taimur, I am telling you. And they have given me the doll...” Sushant then asked if Sara still has the doll and asked her to give it to him, as he is such an adorable kid and she has him for real.
Sara promised she will and went on to add, “But, it was insane. Sushant and Amit sir were there and suddenly they weren't and there was the baby and I was like, "Okay, then..." So, yes that was that.” (Also Read: Sara Ali Khan Can't Wait For Taimur Ali Khan To Grow Up To Bond With Him, Shares Equation With Him)
According to a Deccan Chronicle report, a source close to Sara was quoted as saying, “She was as startled by the emergence of the doll as anyone else. The family is still trying to come to terms with Taimur’s overwhelming popularity. Saif was summoned by his mom (the legendary actress Sharmila Tagore) to discuss the issue. Normally, Sharmilaji is the most non-interfering mother you will find. But now with two-year-old Taimur being constantly in the limelight, she feels some measures must be taken to provide the child a normal life.”
At an even a few months back, Sharmila Tagore talked about her grandson, Taimur Ali Khan and shared, “He’s very sweet. He’s talking now but not in sentences, yet. He does say Abba and Amma sometimes, but not that clearly. It’s more of mumbling right now. Taimur is like any other child playing his usual things. He likes his car and his toys and he likes books.”
In the same interview, she expressed her disapproval on the constant media attention Junior Nawab is getting. Sharmila ji stated, “I don’t approve of this social media attention and what they (people) are doing to Taimur. People are really stalking him! They are in front of his school, the play school that he goes too, following him when he’s going with his parents and it’s not really a good thing. Because, at the moment he’s young but he’s still understanding cameras and stuff. So one can’t really not go out, to avoid this attention. There should be some kind of request to the people to lay off Taimur. Or maybe another baby will arrive someday and they will get bored of this one.”
Speaking about Taimur-inspired doll, Saif Ali Khan shared with Hindustan Times, “Maybe I should trademark his name…The least they could do is send me one!” Further, he said, “I am glad people are benefiting from him. I only ask God for his safety and happiness in return.”
In an interview to Mumbai Mirror, Kareena Kapoor Khan expressed, “Taimur can’t run away from his popularity and neither can his parents. When I saw the doll, I wondered what was I supposed to say. But Saif pointed out that it is because people love him so much and such things are a blessing for him. There is so much genuine warmth for our son that it’s bad to stop people from clicking his pictures or making his dolls. But, they should understand that he is a two-year-old child and needs a normal life. Both Saif and I are struggling to give him that and will continue to do so without telling the media to back off, no matter how annoying it gets after a point. It’s tough on him as it’s on Saif and me.” (Also Read: Sara Ali Khan Gets Candid About Weight Loss Journey From 96 Kgs To A Slim Body, Despite Having PCOD)
