In the Koffee With Karan 7’s third episode, Karan Johar asked Samantha Ruth Prabhu if acting was something that always floated her boat. Answering this, the Family Man 2 actress said that she had to pick acting as her career because her family was not stable financially, and they couldn’t afford expenses for her higher studies. She further revealed that her father had refused to pay her education loans, and that incident changed her life forever. In her words:
“No, it wasn’t. I didn’t have a choice actually because things were hard at home. We didn’t have much money to study further but then I am really glad. When my father said, ‘No I can’t pay your loans,’ that changed my life.”
Further, in the interview, Samantha shared how she was mercilessly trolled after her divorce from her ex-husband, Naga Chaitanya. She added that she was not upset because the separation was her decision, and she had to obey it. She stated:
“I couldn’t really complain about it because I chose that path. I chose to be transparent and I chose to reveal a lot of my life. And when the separation happened, I couldn’t be too upset about it because they invested in my life and it was my responsibility to have answers, which I didn’t at that point of time.”
