Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar were one of the most-loved, evergreen jodis in Bollywood. The duo never failed to mesmerise everyone with their on-screen camaraderie, as well as their real-life love story, which feels like straight out of a fairytale. Dilip and Saira completed a marital bliss of almost 55 years, and they managed to stay strong with each other through thick and thin on every day of their life together. For the unversed, after the tragic death of Dilip Kumar in 2021, Saira Banu has been living a lonely life, filled with nostalgic and emotional memories of her sahib. On July 7, 2023, Saira Banu made her social media debut at the age of 78, and ever since, she has dedicated her profile for preserving fond memories and anecdotes about Dilip Kumar.
Taking to her IG handle on July 21, 2023, Saira Banu dropped a throwback picture of the late icon, Dilip Kumar from her archives. In the picture, Dilip sahab could be seen posing happily in a rain-fed farmland, wearing a mackintosh and carrying an umbrella in his hand. Like always, Saira Banu gave a memorable backstory to the picture and shared how the aspect of rain has always been connected with both herself and Dilip Kumar. Moreover, she also recalled how she got the dreamiest marriage proposal from Dilip Kumar back in the days, as the duo walked alone in a rain-soaked night by the Juhu beach. She mentioned:
“Sahib loved the rain and if he was out of the house in a meeting and there would be a first shower...he would immediately call me with delight, Saira it's raining! In fact, many years ago as we walked by Juhu Beach in the quiet of a wondrous night, there was a sudden shower of rain and he protectively took off his jacket and draped it around my shoulders... that was the magical night that we sat in his car and he asked me... Will you marry me?”

In yet another portion of her long caption, Saira Banu recollected another nostalgic anecdote about her and Dilip Kumar in the rains. Well, the yesteryear diva spoke about the days when the duo would often take a walk on the farm owned by the latter, while it rained. She added how the duo would wear mackintoshes and umbrellas and compete with one another in throwing shiny pebbles across the farm. Sharing how she still has those pebbles with her, Saira added:
“We would walk miles in the rain on the stony and green land geared up with our umbrellas dressed protectively in our mackintoshes, picking up shiny grazed pebbles and throwing them as far as we could in competition outdoing each other... of course, Sahib would always win... I always ran and collected these stones... and I still have and cherish each stone that he flew to the wind.”
A few days back, Saira Banu shared another fond anecdote about her husband, Dilip Kumar on her social media handle. She dropped an old hearty picture of Dilip Kumar and revealed the kind of attires the late actor would usually prefer to wear. She mentioned Dilip sahab’s usual choice of white-hued Jodhpuri bush shirts with a collar. Moreover, she also highlighted how Dilip Kumar would prefer her to wear fluffy Organdy sarees, which made her look more substantial over school-girlish salwar-kameez.

In yet another of her throwback memorabilia, Saira Banu had shared another special anecdote about her married life with Dilip Kumar on her IG handle on July 11, 2023. She shared a picture of her Yusuf sahab playing cricket and mentioned how he once taught her to play cricket ahead of a scheduled friendly match against Raj Kapoor. Thereafter, she also revealed how she was able to bowl out 8 players in her first-ever match itself.
