“A father is his son’s first hero and his daughter’s first love.” In a world which talks at length about the relationship of a father and his daughter, there is one more relation which is less addressed, it is the bond between a father and a son. While a daughter thinks her father is the only man she can trust upon, a son feels his father is the hero he always wanted to be. It is only a father who can set an example of himself and expect his son to follow his footsteps. Saif Ali Khan is one such father who has been more than a friend to his children. Saif has been ruling the silver screen from quite a while now. He has proved his versatility by choosing not only mainstream roles but doing complete justice to second leads as well. Be it is his comic timing in Dil Chahta Hai or the negative character of 'Langda Tyagi' in Omkara, Saif has always proved his acting capabilities. Saif Ali Khan’s daughter, Sara Ali Khan has proved that acting is in her genes with her debut film, Kedarnath. There have been talks about Saif’s son, Ibrahim Ali Khan entering Bollywood, although there is no official confirmation on the same, rumour mills are abuzz about the Pataudi lad making his entry into Bollywood soon.
In an interview with E Times recently, the Laal Kaptaan actor got candid about his son, Ibrahim’s Bollywood career. Saif states that if his son is interested in making a career in Bollywood, then he should do it on his own without the tag of his father. Saif, who has given a number of comic hits feels that his son (if enters Bollywood) should do a light-hearted movie. Saif also gave examples of his films like Salaam Namaste, Hum Tum and Race and said it is up to Ibrahim whether he wants to be an actor and what genre he wants to debut with.
Ibrahim Ali Khan is very close to his mother but has always said that his father is his constant guide. When asked how it feels when his appearance is constantly compared to that of his father, Saif Ali Khan. In an interview with News18, he had said, “There are scenarios where people – whether it’s an old relative, my mother or a family friend – tell me, ‘Oh my god, you’re just like him (Saif) and he does that too!’ I guess maybe we are similar but I wouldn’t know that... But regardless, he is special to me. In an earlier interview with the Hindustan Times, Saif Ali Khan had revealed his thoughts about Ibrahim, following his footsteps, by making a career in acting. He had said, “He should, and he’s looking good, better looking than I am! He’s a very charming guy. I definitely think all of my children would be interested in acting. We’re an acting family, the whole bunch of us are in the industry. So I’m sure. He’s still a little young, and I’m keener than he does university first. Then, of course, we’ll support him in whatever he wants to do.”
In an interview with the DNA, Saif had further revealed Ibrahim’s future plans. He had shared, "But yes, he is over 6 ft tall, and he looks good in one. But I told him we would discuss if he could do that.” He had also answered if we will get to see him acting someday in films. He had said, "It’s a possibility. But he has to work on his diction. It’s a long time away.”
Actress Amrita Singh says Ibrahim is a gifted child and had revealed in an interview with Times Now, “Ibrahim is the ‘old soul’ in our home. He’s kind and gentle and has the most sorted mind. He’s gifted with the ability to face the harshest truth with a brave smile and a strong will to overcome any shortcomings.
