At the mere age of two, Taimur Ali Khan has grown up to be the entire nation’s obsession. At that age, while the rest of them are playing and living their life, baby Tim is learning how to say ‘media’. And no matter how we might look at it, it is of a great concern. From dolls made on his name to shutterbugs lining up outside his home to get his one good click, the little one has outlived the stardom of his parents. His every move is being captured on the lens from his ice-cream outings to play dates with friends, and at that hour we wonder when will the media let this little kid be a kid.
Recently, daddy Saif Ali Khan made an appearance on Arbaaz Khan’s chat show, Pinch by Arbaaz Khan, wherein, he talked about his kid and the media circle surrounding him. He said, “It would be so nice to live in a culture that allowed children to be children. Play in a park and do what he wants...without being a celebrity. Even he has started saying ‘media’. I say where’s the media and he points outside. All of our kids want to join films and I am a little concerned about that. Saif also opened up about the controversy surrounding the name of Taimur, “I think Taimur is a beautiful name... it means iron and it sounds beautiful. I am aware that it sounds like and people thought it is based on the Turkish-Mongul invader, called Timur. I am saying it is not the same name. If you are telling me one letter does not make a difference then luck and f**k are different words, aren’t they?”
On the same show, when Saif was asked to reply to a troll asking Taimur’s Bollywood debut, the dotting father couldn’t hold back and replied, “Everyone I speak to, everybody around thinks that all the kids want to join films and they do. Most of our kids want to do that which is a good thing, a great thing but I don't know why I am a little concerned about that. I feel there should be other choices...somebody might want to say I want to become a doctor or a lawyer kind of stuff. Maybe I am sounding very old-fashioned but anyway, I am not interested in making his debut in Bollywood and neither is he (laughs).”
He further added, “This is the way it happens...sometimes they see their parents, everybody in the family is an actor. So I don't have an issue with anyone doing anything as long as they have a good job and are good people and are well brought up. But there must be so much pressure on my kid also...Like poor Taimur I think will have pressure, like I had to be a cricketer or something. What if he (Taimur) is not interested....Anyway, there's a lot of good wishes for the kid and I would like to thank everyone for that.”
In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Saif had talked about his kid’s perception on media, and had revealed, “Timtim is more media-savvy than either me or Bebo (Kareena Kapoor Khan). He calls the photographers 'Mediawale'. He thinks Mediawale is a name! One of his favourite games is to point my camera at people. He will say 'khichik khichik khichik' and pretend to be 'Mediawale'!”
Kareena had also talked about the growing craze for the apple of her eye. In an interview, she had stated, “Child is a child and nobody stalks anybody's kid. Of course, we are worried about that and people should know that. Well, we hope the media let Taimur be a kid and don't make him a star at such a tender age!
