Sadie Sink's role has been one of the most well-kept secrets of the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, now it seems that some details of her character were spoiled by one of the movie's musicians on the red carpet. For the unversed, it was during Steve Lacy's presence on the red carpet during the Monday, July 27, 2026 (ET) premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day that he stopped for an interview and apparently let some details about Sadie's character slip.
For the unversed, Steve Lacy's song Oh Yeah? has been featured in Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and during his interaction with the reporter, he made a comment that led fans to think he was talking about Sadie Sink. On the red carpet, Steve was asked, "Out of all of the characters in the film you're aware of and, without spoiling anything, who is your favorite? Or who are you most excited to see?"
To this, Steve Lacy replied that 'Jean' was his favorite in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The reply even made the interviewer look up in surprise. He said, "You know, what? Jean. I like Jean. She's the villain, but there's a reason to her madness." However, when he was asked if he just shared a spoiler, Steve seemed to sidestep and said:
"I like her. I like her character. I don't know why."

While Steve Lacy didn't specifically shout out Sadie Sink or name X-Men's 'Jean Grey', it didn't take long for the moment to be clipped and spread wide on the internet. Soon, many fans flooded social media, taking Steve's comment as confirmation that the Stranger Things alum's role was that of the beloved telekinetic mutant. A user expressed his anger about the revelation and said:
"I think he knew what he was doing. We're months into Sadie not being allowed to say who she's playing and 2 decades into Kevin Feige and the whole 'don't spoil secrets' thing, so no, I can't give Steve Lacy the benefit of the doubt. He knew, and he's a jerk for that."
Another comment can be read as, "What he did was kinda annoying tho… like I mean all of us had a hunch that Sadie’s character might be Jean or like Jean will be appearing in the movie but yknow it's better to know once you were watching the actual movie…. but this deaf guy literally spoiled a part of a movie."
