The trailer has already revealed that 'Steve Rogers' and 'Thor' are returning, with the roles being portrayed by Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth, respectively. However, fans are wondering whether 'Spider-Man' and 'Sentry' will be a part of the film.
'Spider-Man’s' appearance is not confirmed for now in Avengers: Doomsday
'Sentry' was last seen in Thunderbolts, and he is confirmed to return in Avengers: Doomsday. Robert Reynolds will play the role, and he was among the cast members disclosed during the livestream event of Marvel for the movie.
On the other hand, Tom Holland’s 'Spider-Man' hasn’t been officially announced for the cast yet, so nothing is confirmed at this stage. His story will continue separately in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The movie is scheduled to release in US theaters on July 31, 2026, and is set before the events of Doomsday. Holland leads the movie as the fourth chapter in the Sony/Marvel Spider-Man series, and reports suggest it will lean into a more grounded, street-level feel.
The main reason 'Spider-Man' isn’t expected to play a big part in Avengers: Doomsday likely comes down to scheduling. Both Doomsday and Brand New Day were in production around the same time.
Doomsday started filming in April 2025 and wrapped in September 2025, while Brand New Day shot over the summer. With Holland headlining his own film, it would have been tough logistically for him to also take on a major role in Doomsday. Still, Marvel has not officially confirmed this as the reason.
