A wedding is not just the reunion of two families and souls but also about the glitz and glam that is surrounded around it. From meeting those relatives after ages, to endless hours of practice with your cousins before the wedding for the sangeet ceremony, a wedding never feels complete. Oh and not to forget the bride's wait for her prince charming to arrive on her D-day, a wedding involves a lot of memories, that are cherished for a lifetime.
Though the functions preceding and succeeding the marriage pass by in the blink of an eye, the preparations for it start almost a year before the wedding actually takes place. Moreover, the decision to tie the knot amidst the pandemic comes with its own set of pros and cons. On one hand, there are limited guests and people can hardly enjoy themselves due to the deadly virus. On the other hand, there is the tension that every girl goes through, that how life after marriage would be like. Despite all these hurdles, our bride, Athiya Bhalla decided to walk down the aisle and achieved her happily ever after.
Meet our bride, Athiya Bhalla, an architect by profession, who chose the fashion designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee to rock the look on her D-day. Breaking the general belief that only celebrities and people from showbiz can rock their wedding look in a Sabyasachi lehenga, Athiya tied the marital knot to her soulmate, Akshay Malik at Le Meridian in Gurgaon, Delhi.
We all know that being an architect calls for a lot of work and is much beyond just designing offices, houses or shopping malls. No matter which field a girl belongs to, she always dreams to have a fairytale wedding that every relative of her would remember for days. Our bride Athiya also had this dream in her eyes and henceforth, who other than the ace-designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee could have fulfilled it impeccably. For her wedding, Athiya Bhalla chose a red dulhan ka joda and looked so amazing that we couldn't take our eyes off her.
The blouse and skirt of her red lehenga had intricate embroidery with golden zari work and the dupatta reminded us of Deepika Padukone's dupatta that she had carried at her Sindhi wedding. Apart from her lehenga, what really caught our attention was the heavy kundan jewellery bought from the house of Sabyasachi Mukherjee itself. Her heavy necklace, earrings, a maang teeka and a nath were studded with kundan stones and to contrast it with her red lehenga, she had chosen green onyx beads to highlight her jewellery.
Every bride wants her prince charming to look the best on their wedding day and Athiya's soulmate, Akshay Malik kept up to her expectations as he looked dapper in the beige-coloured sherwani, that was paired with a safa of the same colour. Twinning with his ladylove, Akshay also donned a green beaded necklace and looked absolutely handsome in the dulha look. For his wedding outfit, Akshay had chosen fashion designers, Shantanu and Nikhil and they could absolutely do justice to his look.
There's no doubt that Athiya Bhalla and Akshay Mallik's wedding pictures make us go 'aww', but once you have a look at their engagement pictures, all the unmarried girls would want to get engaged right away! For the engagement day, our architect bride and her then-would-be husband had coordinated their outfit in pastel shades with mirror work all over the body. Our super-stylish bride, Athiya Bhalla had accentuated her look by carrying an off-shoulder blouse with her lehenga. And not to forget her cute little mang teeka that made the parting of her hair look more beautiful.
Though their wedding was supposed to take place in the month of May, they had shifted it to June due to the pandemic. But before tying the knot, the couple's family had arranged for an intimate ring ceremony. For their engagement day, Athiya and Akshay had picked their outfit from the same designer and Athiya had paired her outfit with polki and pearl work jewellery from Tanishq. Athiya kept her makeup minimal and her diamond ring stole all the show as she flaunted it impeccably. She looked so beautiful that Akshay could not take his eyes off her and their pictures are a proof of it.
