Sushmita Sen is 42 and is a single mother to two adopted daughters- Renee and Alisah. She is dating a model by the name of Rohman Shawl who is just 27. More than their age-gap, the most intriguing fact is their love story and how the two first had a conversation and eventually, Cupid struck them with its sharpest arrow. In an interview with Rajeev Masand for the web segment, Women We Love, Sushmita recently opened up about her life.
Sushmita Sen shared with Rajeev Masand that had it not been for a random guy in a room who had disturbed her, which landed her hands on the direct messages on Instagram, there would have been no Rohman Shawl in her life. Opening up about the story, Sushmita Sen was quoted as saying, “It’s a very, very beautiful serendipity story. He sent me a direct message on Instagram and I didn’t check direct messages because I wasn’t sure if you check it, you may be allowing that person to start communicating with you. So, I had too many of these direct messages and I had not opened any and there it was.”
Sushmita Sen further added as to how she bumped into one of Rohman Shawl’s direct message on Instagram, “Touch screen phone ki Jai ho because I had gone to the DM to look at what all had come and I was scrolling through and this boy broke something in the room and I went talking to him and when I came back I had obviously opened one of the DMs and it was a message from him and I was like ‘Oh my god, how did I do that, god I should never be talking when I am near a phone’.”
Sushmita further shared what her first text to Rohman Shawl was and what happened when he realised that the former Miss Universe had replied to him. Sushmita Sen opened up that her reply to Rohman Shawl was, “Thank you so much, your message made my day, I wish you all the happiness in the world.” And he again sent her a message which won her heart. He had replied, “I am jumping from one room to another, I cannot believe you responded.”

What a serendipitous moment, right? In the same interview, Sushmita Sen also shared that she has given her elder daughter, Renee the liberty to seek out her biological parents. Rajeev Masand was quoted as saying, “You actually told her that when you turn 18 you can go to court and open that envelope that explains the names of your biological parents and go seek them out if you choose to and I will help you.”
Sushmita Sen interjected Rajeev here and she was quoted as saying, “I told her that we don't know if they have a biological parents name in there right but there is information in that envelope which is only rightfully yours after you turn 18, right, so I didn't want to give her the wrong information because I don't want her to go there and get her heart broken because they don't have that information about a lot of kids. But I told her 'I'll take you whenever you're ready we must go' and we get it so she said ‘but why do you want me to go find out’, so I said, ‘I am saying you have a right, now that you are an adult to go if you want to go, I'll take you.' So, she gave it a bit like a moment's pause and said, 'Honestly, no I don't want to find out.' I told her, ‘If you do let me know.’”
Coming back to Sushmita Sen and Rohman Shawl, the duo has been winning hearts all over social media with their PDAs. Sushmita had recently shared a pic with her beau flaunting a sapphire ring and everybody thought they had gotten engaged.
