Ranbir Kapoor is one of the finest actors of his generation in Bollywood. The actor has proved his exceptional prowess in the craft of films with some of his pathbreaking works, such as Barfi, Sanju, Raajneeti, Anjaana Anjaani among so many others. Following in the footsteps of his parents, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, Ranbir is the third generation of superbly successful actors under the lineage of film stalwart, Raj Kapoor.
For the unversed, Ranbir Kapoor shared quite a strained relationship with his father, Rishi Kapoor. There was a time when rumours were afire that the former even moved out of his house and lived separately from his parents. In fact, on countless occasions, both of them have often shared anecdotes about one another, which hinted at everything not being well between the father-son duo.

In one of his old interviews with DNA, Ranbir Kapoor had shared an anecdote concerning his father, Rishi Kapoor and actor, Sanjay Dutt. For the unversed, Ranbir worked in Sanjay Dutt’s biopic in the 2018-film, Sanju. In his interaction, Ranbir shared how his father, Rishi Kapoor scolded Sanjay Dutt, who gifted the former’s son an expensive Harley Davidson bike. Recalling Rishi’s words, Ranbir said:
“I remember I had to hide it from Papa for a long time as he doesn’t like bikes. When he found out that Sanjay sir had gifted me one, he called him and fired him. He told him, ‘Stop spoiling my son, isko tere jaisa mat bana.’ But now, he’s aware that I have the bike. It is one of my most prized possessions.”
Speaking along the same lines, Ranbir Kapoor also talked about the fond equation he shares with Sanjay Dutt. He mentioned that the Harley Davidson bike which the latter gifted him on his birthday was one of his prized possessions. Moreover, he recalled Sanjay taking him to drives on his Ferrari late at night. In his words:
“He gave me a Harley Davidson motorcycle for my birthday. He used to pick me up for a drive in his Ferrari late in the night. It seems life has come a full circle with him when I got an opportunity to portray him on screen. Initially, I didn’t have the confidence to play the part. However, when Raju sir shared the script with me, I discovered a human side to Sanjay sir. It’s not the Sanjay Dutt we know. I’ve a lot more admiration and respect for him now.”
Ranbir Kapoor’s 2018-film, Sanju was a befitting ode to the actor, Sanjay Dutt’s expansive life, and the former did complete justice as he stepped into the latter’s shoes. Moreover, the film also strengthened the bond between the two actors like nothing else. Back during the promotions of the same film, Ranbir once revealed to have suffered from what can be called as a ‘Sanjay Dutt hangover’ by impersonating Sanjay Dutt in his biopic.

Sanjay Dutt and his first wife, late Richa Sharma’s daughter, Trishala Dutt is a notable psychotherapist by profession. On December 20, 2023, the star daughter took to her IG stories and dropped a candid glimpse of herself, as she bumped into Ranbir Kapoor abroad. The duo seemed to have a lot of fun while enjoying a scrumptiously-laid dinner together.
