Do you remember there was a time when we used to go to Archies to buy a mushy card and perfect gift for our loved one? We would pen our feelings in the card and hand it over to our loved one on their birthday, hoping to make their day special. Though now it seems like a thing of the past as the way of wishing our loved one on their birthday has changed but the feelings are same. Expressing love through cards are replaced by social media posts, and even that is as sweet as a slice of cake. Fukrey couple, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, who are known for being their unconventional best in personal and professional lives, have also swooned us often with their PDAs. Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal had met on the sets of Fukrey and after keeping their relationship under the wraps for a few years, the couple had opened up about the same. Richa and Ali are often surrounded with questions about their wedding and when finally, the couple had decided to tie the knot in 2020, the pandemic had postponed their plans. Uncertain of when they will be planning their wedding now, Ali and Richa are making the most of their courtship period and are focussing on their professional commitments.
To mark Ali Fazal’s 34th birthday on October 15, 2020, Richa Chadha took to her social media handles to post a new magazine cover featuring her beau. Ali graced the cover of the magazine, The Man, which described him as "one of India's biggest stars", Guddu bhaiya of Mirzapur looked dapper in a black kurta. Killing us with his intense gaze and posing with a gun in his hand, it was difficult to take our eyes off Ali but it was Richa’s hilarious birthday wish for him that grabbed our attention. Richa tweeted, "As Guddu as it gets... hbd soulmate. Phone uthao shot ke baad. @alifazal9!" When a fan expressed his admiration of Ali by replying on Richa’s tweet, she retorted, "Me too. Blush" to his comment, "Happy Birthday to your Guddu. Kinda love him."
When the trailer of the much-awaited web series, Mirzapur season 2 had released on October 6, 2020, it had received the loudest shout out from Ali Fazal’s ladylove, Richa Chadha. "When @yehhaimirzapur released, people said bae @alifazal9 was a revelation! Because they'd seen him only in softer parts. But that's an actors job! To become almost unrecognisable from one part to the next. My Hollywoodia Bollywoodia does that quite well! He can be chilling with Dame Dench with ease, while competing to become Mr Purvanchal! The trailer of part 2 is about to drop and rest assured, you shall be surprised again. Guddu Pandit is on the way, bas raaste me ande ka thhela dikh gaya tha toh thoda khaa pee ke ayenge." Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal had featured on the cover of Brides Today magazine and the former had written a letter to her beau, speaking of how it was a miracle that she found someone with whom she can discuss literature, cinema, poetry, food and music. The letter could be read as "So weird to write to you a letter when I can just call you…seems apt in view of this 21 days lockdown though. May we both emerge from this like butterflies from a cocoon. I keep saying it’s a miracle we met, because what are the odds? What are the odds of finding someone with whom you can discuss literature, cinema, poetry, food, music…? Someone who enjoys going on a run in the sultry LA afternoon and bargaining with peddlers at Chor Bazaar! You, my love, are the last of the Mohicans, as the cultured man ambles to his extinction, I am so glad I found you. Found you with your intact spine and balls of steel! That too in our business. We’re in equal measure reclusive and crazy extroverted—a healthy concoction for any artist. Oh, speaking of, thank you for celebrating my career."
Throwing some light on the healthy evolution of their relationship and giving it an official sanction, Richa Chadha's letter had further stated, "Now don’t let it get to your head because I have heard, after a few years of marriage, people sometimes want to murder their spouse! I won’t act on any such fantasies on account of being vegan. We have grown together mentally, spiritually, and in our respective careers. And it’s a healthy evolution because we’ve marinated, not fermented and gone stale—its fresh, forward feel now every day! Now, before we bless the world by giving our relationship official/societal sanction remember, in the words of Javed Akhtar: “Hamari dosti itni pakki hai ki shaadi bhi iska kuch nahin bigaad sakti!”."
