However, on September 8, 2020, Sushant's girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) under various charges of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. On September 10, 2020, Bollywood actress, Rhea Chakraborty's BFF and actress, Shibani Dandekar took to her Instagram stories and shared a fiery note slamming late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput's ex-girlfriend and television actress, Ankita Lokhande. The actress wrote this note in reply to Ankita's post, in which she had cleared her stand and reaction to Rhea's arrest. In her note, Shibani slammed Ankita for capitalising on Sushant's demise for some fame. Her note could be read as "In response to the grotesque letter posted last night by #lokhandeankita This princess of patriarchy has clearly never dealt with her own relationship issues with Sushant! She obviously wants her two seconds of fame and has got it by targetting and playing a major role in this witch-hunt! Rather than recognising this system of patriarchy, women like Ankita have jumped on the bandwagon and used it to advance their own agenda." Take a look.
On September 9, 2020, Ankita Lokhande had taken to her Instagram handle and had shared a picture of folded hands emoji along with a long note, clarifying her stand in Sushant's case. The actress had started her note saying "I again clarify, for the reason time and again being asked by the media to me on whether I feel it's a murder or suicide? I have never said it's a murder or anyone, in particular, is responsible. I always have encouraged justice for my late friend SSR and stood by the bereaved family, and the investigating agencies should bring out the truth." Going further in her note, Ankita had addressed the people, who are labelling her with lingos like 'Sautan' and 'Widow'. She had written, "Being a Maharashtrian and an Indian citizen, I have total faith in the Maharashtra State Govt/Police & Central Government instrumentalities. Though when some lingos like "Sautan" and "widow" were used for me, which is in public knowledge. I never responded to it. I only came forward to narrate about SSR and his mental health till 2016."
After which, Ankita had taken a dig at Rhea Chakraborty's BFF, Shibani Dandekar, who had started a campaign on social media to support her BFF in Sushant's case. Ankita had written, "Dear Haters! Let us assume you must have known in and out about your friend and whats going on in her life and relationship. Glad to see you wake up finally, but I wish you would have woken up sooner and advised your friend not to support any kind of drug abuse by SSR if any. When she very well knew about his mental state by publicly stating that he was in depression. Should she have allowed a depressed man to consume drugs?"
