Rekha Was Sceptical About Husband, Mukesh's Look, Had Amitabh In Vision, 'She Needed Obsessive Love'

Rekha's personal life has always been a topic of discussion. The gorgeous actress's alleged relationship with Amitabh has made headlines till now. Well, it was in March 1990, when Rekha decided to get married to Mukesh Aggarwal. While the wedding happened after they formed a bond over the phone, it was a short-lived marriage, and before the divorce process, Mukesh committed suicide. For this, Rekha was blamed. Recently, fashion designer, Bina Ramani talked about some unknown details about Mukesh and Rekha's relationship.

Talking to ANI, Bina Ramani said that Mukesh Aggarwal was Rekha's fan, and it was through one of her friends that she got to know about the same. Bina mentioned that Mukesh was such a huge fan that he would recite any dialogue of the actress. It was at a party that Bina met Mukesh. Describing him, Bina said that he was short and dark, but someone with very good communication skills. Mukesh expressed his wish to Bina about meeting Rekha. Sharing the incident, Bina said:

"He was not descriptive. Nothing much, he was short and dark, but when you got to talking and engaging with him, he was very nice, but he could pass you like six times and you would not recognise him. She, on the other hand, was a diva.” She added, “With so much sincerity in his eyes, he told me if he could just speak to Rekha. He said, ‘If there is a possibility that I could meet her someday, you have no idea what it would mean to me, and what you would have achieved, she would be the happiest person on earth.”

Bina helped Rekha to meet Mukesh over the phone. Following this, Mukesh and Rekha conversed over the phone. Bina recalled how Mukesh was over the moon while Rekha was sceptical about his look. She shared that the actress called her and asked if she could see him by herself, and she replied that he was a good man, but the decision should always be hers. Bina recalled:

"They were in two different cities. Bombay and Delhi. He was over the moon. He could not believe that this has happened to him, and then they exchanged pictures and then she calls me and says, ‘Can you see him standing next to me?’ I mean, there is Amitabh Bachchan and it’s her vision. So I tell her, ‘No, not really, but he seems like a nice man, but this is in your hands and I don’t want to take any decision for you’.But she realised what feels good for her at that time from that heart break that she was in. And perhaps she wanted that obsessive love.”

Bina Ramani shares how shocked she was upon learning about Mukesh and Rekha's wedding

Mukesh and Rekha first met at one of their friends' houses in Mumbai, and over a short course of time, they got really close and knew a lot about each other. It was following the first meeting of Rekha and Mukesh that they got married, and Bina remained shocked about the same. Bina didn't expect the marriage to happen this soon. Well, she tagged the wedding to be a 'fantasy', mentioning that the actress's life was in Mumbai while Mukesh's life was in Delhi.

When Rekha was called a 'witch'

After the initial phase of their marriage and a few months after the honeymoon, Rekha decided to end her marriage with Mukesh. Destiny had some other plans, and Mukesh passed away even before the divorce process began, for which his mother blamed her. Rekha was called a witch, and even the industry went against her. Talking about the same much later in an interview with Simi Garewal, Rekha said:

"One went through the whole gamut of feelings. The initial shock and then denial that ‘no, this can’t be really happening to me’ and later on, this intense anger and then you go on this self pity trip that ‘what did I do wrong? I never meant to hurt anybody’. Then trying to understand it, in vain, of course, because you never understand it. And then, finally, of course, acceptance.”
