They like to create memories of their wedding festivities in a little hatke style. You must have heard about couples getting married in two different ceremonies, incorporating the culture of both. But this real-life couple decided to take a different path and tied the knot in three different styles.
Humans of Bombay got in touch with a famous plus-size blogger and model, Tanvi Geetha Ravishankar and her husband, Tushar Shailly Mehta for their love story and how the couple broke all the stereotypes that are related to marriage. Tanvi, who is a famous fashion blogger and influencer, spoke about the size issues that women face and how to deal with them in style. She also shared styling tips for all the plus-size women and spoke her heart out on topics related to body-shaming on her website. Tushar Shailly Mehta spoke to Humans of Bombay about his first reaction when he had first seen Tanvi Geetha Ravishankar in their college and how he was impressed by her confidence in her own skin. He was quoted as saying, “From the time I’ve met her, she’s been one person that stands for everything ‘equal’. She’s been ‘plus-size’ since she was a child, but she’s never let it get to her—a lot of times she has been called out for being ‘fat’. But that’s never deterred her. When I met her in college, I realised that she was one of the most confident women I’d met. She didn’t care who thought what, she did exactly what she wanted to. She loved fashion, so she’d never shy away from wearing what she wanted to. She was on the dance team & took part in most college activities!"
The first person among the two to realize their feelings was our handsome munda, Tushar. Talking about how he fell in love with the plus-sized model, Tanvi, Tushar shared his feelings for her in the same conversation and also talked about how they started dating. He revealed, “As we hung out more, I’d started to like her and somewhere she felt the same. So even though there was no label, we both knew what we had. But it didn’t take long before we started dating. Life with her was so much fun—we’d spend the whole day together & even sneak out to meet in the night. I’d steal my cousin’s bike, just because she loved long drives at night!"
A girl always wishes for a dreamy proposal, where the boy will get down on his knees and will ask her for marriage and togetherness. Our sexy kudi, Tanvi was the lucky one to have gotten such a dreamy proposal. Sharing his experience of proposing Tanvi, Tushar has revealed how he planned to ‘pop’ the most awaited question to her, he stated, “With her, life was uncomplicated, I started feeling free & learnt to listen to my heart. So, I knew that I wanted her in my life forever! One day, I booked a floor of a restaurant & decorated it with rose petals. When she entered, I got down on one knee—she was speechless & after a few seconds, said ‘Yes!’."
Tushar and Tanvi had broken all stereotypes and went ahead to tie the knot in three different styles and give it a touch of their individualities. The madly-in-love couple had decided to get inked on their ring fingers to celebrate their wedding and love for each other. Tushar shared the details and said, “We decided to have a wedding that would break societal stereotypes & celebrate our individuality! We got married thrice, once in my hometown, once in her hometown & once in Mumbai. We both arrived at the wedding, riding a horse! There was no ‘giving away the bride’ & we had the priest tweak the vows so that the husband doesn’t have to be ‘supreme’ but is on par with the wife! Tanvi and Tushar had entered the marital bliss by tying the knot in three different cultures and in three different cities to give the wedding their personal touch. They had tied the knot in a traditional South Indian wedding, a Hindu wedding and a Christian wedding. Shaadi ke baad ladkiya parai ho jati aur unhe apna maayka chod kar apne sasural jaana hota hai- All the girls must be familiar with this line, as they must have heard this from either their parents or some relatives. Whenever the topic of marriage pops up, this line will always be used in one way or the other. As per the Indian traditions, after marriage, the bride has to leave her parents’ house and go to her in-laws to start a new family. And if she stays back in her parent's house even after getting married, then the societal pressure makes it difficult for her to live life. However, modern couples are trying to change the stereotypical thinking and are taking their own decision which even includes where to stay after marriage.
Tanvi and Tushar had broken all stereotypes during their wedding and even after that. Instead of Tanvi, Tushar decided to pack his bags and shift to Tanvi’s house with her parents so that Tanvi can be closer to her home. Talking about the same, Tushar told Humans of Bombay, “We’ve been with each other for over 12 years now & after getting married we’re living with her parents so that she can be closer to home, & until we can afford our own place!”
Tushar was all praises for his dearie wifey, Tanvi and shared how they are growing with each passing day and building their own little world with their set of rules. He revealed, “With every stereotype, we break & our own rules that we create—I’m learning the true meaning of living life, fearlessly with her.
