The Bollywood actors, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were once one of the leading couples in the film industry. The ex-lovebirds used to break headlines with their mushy date outings and appearances at award functions. It was during the shooting of their film, Bachna Ae Haseeno, that they fell in love with each other. Ranbir and Deepika were in a relationship for almost two years, from 2008 to 2010. During that time, Deepika even got inked with her then-boyfriend, Ranbir’s initials ‘RK’, on the nape of her neck.
Deepika Padukone’s move to get Ranbir Kapoor’s initials inked on her neck was indeed a bold move, and it had broken the headlines back then. Everyone thought that the then-much-in-love couple would tie the knot in the coming years. However, everything crashed when reports of Ranbir Kapoor being romantically involved with other women became the news. As per media reports, Deepika and Ranbir tried their best to solve their differences, but in the end, they parted ways, leaving their massive fanbase completely heartbroken.

It was back in 2013 when Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor were promoting their then-upcoming film, Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani. Despite their breakup, Deepika and Ranbir chose to work with each other, and it was indeed an outstanding decision as the film went on to become one of the best Bollywood films of all time. However, when the actors were promoting the movie, several reporters and paparazzi were asking them personal questions about their breakup. For instance, during the trailer launch of the film, a reporter asked Deepika about her RK tattoo, and it left the actress in a pretty uncomfortable situation. A video clip of the incident is available on Reddit, and the reporter could be heard asking:
"People say that one does anything for love but people also do anything for promotions. Keeping this in mind, for promotions, will you show off your tattoo? Like the one on your neck?"
As soon as the reporter ended his question, Deepika Padukone was about to give a reply, but it was her co-star and ex-boyfriend, Ranbir Kapoor, who took the matter into his own hands. The actor defended Deepika and slammed the reporter for asking such personal questions at a professional event. Ranbir didn’t hesitate to teach the reporter about his ethics and advised him not to act smart for a news article. The actor urged the reporter not to bring such questions at an event like the trailer launch, as it is extremely unprofessional. However, in the end, Ranbir apologised in advance if he had crossed the line with his words. The actor said:
"I think yeh bahut hi kamaal ka behuda sawaal hai. Deepika ne tattoo promotion ke liye nahi lagaya hai. It’s really, really silly and I really pray for you ke aap jab jayenge waapas office mein toh they welcome you with open arms as a hero that you asked this question at this press conference. We also have a life, we have a personal life. When you ask a question like this and when Deepika will reply, that will become a news article. So I think it’s best that you could also have a little bit of dignity at a press conference and not bring up questions like these. I am sorry if I’ve stepped the line like this."

It was in 2010 when during her appearance on the celebrity talk show, Koffee With Karan, Deepika Padukone joined Sonam Kapoor in a memorable episode with Karan Johar. During a segment of the show, Deepika was asked about the RK tattoo that she got when she was in a relationship with Ranbir. Talking about the same and how she never regretted it in her life, Deepika stated that she had no plans to take it off.
As per the actress, it was a correct decision back in the time when she was dating, but even after they parted ways, she added how she never thought about taking it off. However, for the uninitiated, when Deepika was spotted at the Mumbai airport with her husband, Ranveer Singh, soon after their wedding, her RK tattoo wasn’t there. However, it is still a mystery whether she has taken it off or modified it in something else.
