Bollywood actor, Ranbir Kapoor is the heartthrob of the Indian film industry. The actor is currently garnering positive responses from the audience and the critics for his new film, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which was released in theatres on the occasion of Holi. Son of veteran actors, late Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, Ranbir often manages to hit the headlines for his personal life and controversial remarks. And this time was no different.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Ranbir Kapoor talked about his early days as he got candid about his personal life. When Ranbir mentioned that the theme of his recently-released film is unreliable protagonists, the host asked him to name the one person he lies to the most. To which, the actor said:
“I’ve lied to my mother the most. I used to get smacked a lot, I was very naughty. I’m a changed man now.”

Further, in the interview, Ranbir Kapoor revealed that he experienced a dark phase in his life when he was caught smoking as a child by his mother, Neetu Kapoor. Talking about the same, the actor said that his mother was devastated. Reflecting on the same, he said that he didn’t try to convince her that he would stop and added:
“When I first smoked a cigarette, and my mother found out… It was a very dark time in my life. It was a dark moment, I haven’t seen my mother feeling so devastated. She thought I was doing heroin. Of course, you feel bad. I apologised profusely, I begged for forgiveness. But eventually, I guess, parents also give up.”
Well, this is not the first time that Ranbir Kapoor has spoken about his vices in public. Earlier, in an interview with Health & Nutrition magazine in 2018, the actor admitted that he might have a drinking problem. Ranbir also credited his mom, Neetu Kapoor, and his sister, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, for encouraging him to lead a healthier lifestyle. He was quoted as saying:
“I don’t have a drinking addiction but yes I have a tendency to drink a lot. When I start, I don’t stop. I guess it’s in my blood; you know how my family is. They are all very fond of alcohol. So, yes it’s in my genes to drink.”
A few years ago, Ranbir Kapoor opened up about his past addictions and revealed he started smoking at the age of 15. However, the actor admitted that he had even tried getting rid of the habit by getting medical treatment in Austria. Talking about the same, in an interview with GQ India, Ranbir revealed that during the treatment he was given an injection in his ears to stop his urge to smoke as he lacked the willpower to do it on his own.

Ranbir Kapoor never thought of settling down with one woman, until he met Alia Bhatt. Ranbir and Alia fell in love with one another on the sets of their first film together, Brahmastra. After dating each other for a long time, the duo got married in a whimsical wedding on April 14, 2022, at Ranbir's home, Vaastu. Their wedding was one of the most talked-about subjects back then, and pictures from the same still send us into a meltdown. Fast forward to today, Ranbir and Alia are living their happy life with each other and their little one, Raha Kapoor.
