Since decades, the role of a man and woman is divided as while the former is a breadwinner, the latter is expected to be a homemaker. Thanks to modernisation, men and women have together taken steps towards achieving gender equality and we are finally seeing Ki & Ka in real-life. Not just common people, celebs too, have been sharing household responsibilities with their wives, be it Shahid Kapoor stepping in the kitchen to cook for his wife, Mira Rajput Kapoor for the first time in five years or Kunal Kemmu helping his wife, Soha Ali Khan in peeling peas. Even the Kapoors aren’t behind when it comes to stepping into the kitchen to satiate their foodie self. Remember how Saif Ali Khan had treated the foodie Kapoor sisters, Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan during the lockdown with his special biryani? Saif has not just played the role of chef in Raja Krishna Menon directorial film, Chef, but has also stepped into the kitchen quite often in real-life too. On Eid 2020, Saif had treated Karisma and Kareena with an ‘insane lunch’ and we had gotten a glimpse of the same on the Kapoor sisters’ IG stories. Karisma had posted a picture of a plate filled with delicious biryani and had written, "Chef Saifu, best mutton biryani ever! Insane lunch @kareenakapoorkhan" atop it along with ‘Yum’ and ‘Eid Mubarak’ stickers. Kareena had reposted the picture on her IG story with an array of hearts.
Another glimpse of the Chef of the Kapoor house was seen in 2017, when Saif Ali Khan had cooked for their family barbeque dinner. Ahead of the release of Saif’s film, Chef, the actor was seen exercising his culinary skills in the kitchen. Can you guess who was the sous-chef? It was none other than Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s cousin, Ranbir Kapoor. Their other cousin, Zahaan Kapoor was on the barbeque duty while Ranbir chopped for the dinner and Saif prepped the meal. Lolo and Bebo were busy taking pictures as men had taken over the kitchen. Karisma had posted a collage of their barbeque night and had captioned it as “Our very own #masterchefs #cookout #barbaque #flambéing #foodies #myfamily #friends #lovelyevening #aboutlastnight.”
One thing apart from the acting talent that the Kapoor sisters have inherited from their star Kapoor family is the love for food. Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan are big-time foodies and their pictures have been proof of it. Sometime back, Karisma had posted a childhood picture with Kareena as they both had relished their favourite food at a party. Twinning in white and black outfits, Karisma had captioned her candid picture with Kareena as "Twinning since childhood #throwbackthursday #sisterlove #alwaysandforever #familygoals #fooodies #stylegoals.” Later, Kareena had posted the same picture on her IG handle and had captioned it as "Some of my happiest memories are from my childhood, which shaped me into what I am today." In an interview with Mashable India, Saif Ali Khan had revealed that the love for Chinese food is common between him and his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan. Saif had added that they always order Chinese from the same restaurant but he had forgotten the name of the place. In fact, he had called Kareena in between his interview to ask her the name of the restaurant, but even she was unable to recall the name. Then they had called their producer friend and finally revealed that the Bandra restaurant where they order Chinese take-out from is Kuai Kitchen.
Did you know food is one of the things with which Karisma Kapoor bonded over her sister, Kareena Kapoor Khan? In a Sunday brunch with Curly Tales, Karisma had spoken on her equation with Kareena and was quoted as saying "We never fought actually. We have touchwood been very close. Well, apart from our sisterly bond, we have bonded over clothes, food, travel." Admitting being a foodie, Karisma had said, "Yes absolutely! I love my food, no compromise on food. I love Indian food, any kind of Indian food. I love my biriyani and I love Kali Dal, Palak Paneer, simple things too. And then I am also quite a non-veg eater. We have grown up in a home where food has always been a big thing. Watching my Dadi, my Nani, so it has been a home where there has been a lot of Punjabi and Sindhi food."
When Karisma Kapoor was asked about her favourite hangout points in Mumbai, she had retorted, "Firstly my favourite hangout point would be my sister’s home because she loves to eat home food. So, we tend to eat a lot whether its lunch or dinner at her home." (Also Read: 5 Times Kareena Kapoor Khan Had Broken Stereotypes During Her First Pregnancy And Became Inspiration)
