The filmmaker was born on April 7, 1962, and is also regarded as one of the notable pioneers of new-age Indian cinema after the success of his gritty realism in genres like docudrama and parallel cinema. From his illustrious career, path-breaking films, international recognition to his divorce with his first wife, Ratna, obsession for late actress, Sridevi, and hating the institution of marriage, his life is full of lessons and regrets.

Ram Gopal Varma had started his journey as a filmmaker with Telugu cinema, when he had made his directorial debut in 1989 with the crime thriller, Siva that had become an instant hit and had changed RGV's fortunes overnight. The classic film was included in CNN-IBN's list of 100 greatest Indian films of all time that speaks everything about his debut film's quality. #6 When Ram Gopal Varma tried to touch Sridevi's feet

After the success of his directorial debut film, Siva, Ram Gopal Varma wanted to cast gorgeous Sridevi in his second film, Kshana Kshanam, opposite Daggubati Venkatesh. One of his industry-mate and producer had taken him to the actress' home for the meeting in Chennai. In one of his blogs, the director had recalled that meeting and had stated, "The way Sridevi sat in front of me in the candlelight got imprinted in my mind like an exquisite painting. And with her image completely filling both my mind and my heart, I started writing Kshana Kshanam."

Going further in his blog, Ram Gopal Varma had also revealed that directing Sridevi was an experience that is impossible to explain in words for him. The filmmaker was so much mesmerised with her acting and beauty that he had tried to touch her feet in admiration. In the same blog, RGV had also revealed that his film, Kshana Kshanam was his love letter for Sridevi. He had said, "Kshana Kshanam was my love letter for her."

#5 When Ram Gopal Varma called Sridevi a depressed woman

After late Bollywood actress, Sridevi's demise, her most enormous admirer and director, Ram Gopal Varma had spilt many never-said-before secrets about her personal life, as he had revealed why she was an extremely unhappy woman. The filmmaker had stated that the uncertainty of the future and wrong turns in her personal life had left some deep scars inside her mind. He had explained, "Except for the short glimmer of 'English Vinglish', Sridevi was pretty much an extremely unhappy woman. The uncertainty of the future, the ugly turns and twists in her private life left deep scars in the superstar's sensitive mind and thereafter, she was never at peace."

In the same letter, RGV had also claimed that Sridevi's father, Ayyapan Yanger's demise was the point, after which she had suffered a lot till the end of her life because of a lot of personal issues. He had stated, "From outside, everything looked so enviable and desirable. But was Sridevi a very happy person, and did she lead a very happy life? I know her life from the time I met her. I saw with my own eyes how her life was like a bird in the sky till her father's death and then became like a bird in a cage due to her overprotective mother."

#4 When Ram Gopal Varma revealed Sridevi's relatives betrayed her

Ram Gopal Varma's blog post after Sridevi's demise was full of shocking revelations about the late actress, which had shocked her entire fanbase when they were informed that it was Sridevi's arrogant mother, whose mistakes had massively costed her daughter financially. RGV had explained that Sridevi's mother, Rajeswari Yanger was an arrogant and overprotective mom and had made some terrible investments that had costed their family's financial stability. The director had stated, "All those mistakes combined made her almost penny less by the time Boney came into her life. He himself was in huge debts, and all he could afford was to give her a shoulder to cry on."

RGV had also stated that Sridevi was administrated by her husband, Boney Kapoor and children, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. #3 When Ram Gopal Varma called God a 'bastard' for Sridevi

On February 28, 2018, Indian cinema's Chandni and often regarded as the first female superstar of Indian cinema, Sridevi was found unconscious in her hotel room's bathtub in Dubai. The post-mortem report had suggested that she had died due to accidental drowning. However, even to this very day, there are still a lot of debates around Sridevi's demise as to whether it was a suicide, accidental death, or a well-planned murder. #2 When Ram Gopal Varma revealed he hates Boney Kapoor

After the demise of Sridevi, the director, Ram Gopal Varma had broken the headlines with his tweets, letters, and revelations about Bollywood's Hawa Hawai's life. His comments about Sridevi's husband, Boney Kapoor had also raised many eyebrows after RGV had revealed that he had hated Boney for treating Sridevi like an ordinary woman. He had also added that he doesn't like to visit Boney's house because he couldn't see Sridevi in such an ordinary setting.

RGV had explained the whole matter in his letter, and it could be read as "The woman who was the object of lust of the entire nation's male population, was suddenly left all alone in the world till Boney Kapoor stepped in to fill the vacuum. So, straight from her superstardom, magazine covers and her dazzling beauty on the silver screen, I saw her in Boney's house serving tea like an ordinary housewife. I hated Boney Kapoor for bringing that angel down from heaven to such an ordinary, humdrum existence. #1 Ram Gopal Varma Said 'I love you' to Sridevi

The filmmaker, Ram Gopal Varma was in immense pain after he had received the news about Sridevi's demise and had taken to his Twitter handle immediately on February 25, 2018, and had shared a series of tweets in which he had shown his immense love, admiration, and passion for the late actress. In his one tweet, RGV had penned that one of the biggest reasons for him coming into films was his immense desire to see Sridevi up close in real.

After all these years, in the same series of tweets he had confessed his love Sridevi and had written 'I love you' to Sridevi. His tweet could be read as "I hate Sridevi. I hate her for making me realise that she too is finally only just a human being. I hate that her heart too has to beat to live. I hate that, she too has a heart which can just stop like anybody else's. I hate that I lived to see the messages informing me of her death. I hate God for killing her. And I hate Sridevi for dying. I love you Sri wherever you are… and I will always love you. Ram Gopal Varma."
