Bollywood queen, Shilpa Shetty Kundra lives a life exactly befitting that of a royal queen courtesy of the unconditional love and pampering she receives from her dear husband, Raj Kundra. The duo, who tied the knot in 2009, has been living a wholesome life together for so many years now, along with their bundles of joy, Viaan and Samisha. However, did you know that Shilpa happens to be the second wife of Raj, who was previously married to Kavita Kundra? Well, Raj’s previous marriage had ended on an ugly note since he had discovered his then-wife to be cheating on him with his brother-in-law.
Raj Kundra seldom spoke about his past, and has always remained thankful to his life for giving him a beautiful second chance at love by marrying Shilpa Shetty Kundra. Nevertheless, there was once a time when he had, for the first time, opened up about his past, especially about his broken marriage with ex-wife, Kavita. Spilling beans about the nasty reason behind the same, Raj, in an interview with ETimes, had revealed:
“I feel so much lighter to be able to speak the truth about what really happened after so many years! My mother caught my ex-wife and sister's husband red handed in compromising situations many times. Two families were spoiled here; they didn't think twice!"

While such an illicit affair became the deal breaker between Raj Kundra and his then-wife, Kavita, things were exactly the same for his sister, Reena. She too, had to bear the brunt of her unfaithful husband, Vansh, who cheated on her with her sister-in-law, whom she was too fond of. Reacting on the same, Reena gave her most heartbreaking take on the same. In an interview with Pinkvilla, she mentioned:
“I treated Kavita as my older sister. I loved and trusted her. She and I were very close. I never thought she could do this to me. It was heartbreaking."
Much like the two sides of a coin, this entire episode between Raj Kundra and his ex-wife, Kavita had a different perspective from the eyes of the latter. On the contrary to the news of her cheating on Raj with his brother-in-law, Kavita had blamed Shilpa for coming in between her and Raj. She even marked Shilpa for wrecking their marital life, stealing her husband and living her life. In an interview with The Daily Mail, Kavita had once mentioned:
“I look at the pictures of them together and think, she's with my husband, she's living my life. While I was trying to put our marriage back together, he was talking constantly about Shilpa, as if it didn't matter what happened to us because he had found someone better, cleverer and more famous than me. Now he has begun pestering me for a divorce. I asked him if he planned to marry someone else but he avoided the question."

In response to Kavita’s allegations against Raj Kundra’s second wife, Shilpa Shetty, the latter had sharply reacted on it. Dismissing everything she had mentioned, Raj on behalf of Kavita had even gone down to apologise to Shilpa and her family for being levied with such baseless accusations. Reacting to the same in a public event, Raj Kundra had mentioned:
“I regret that my personal situation has led my ex-wife to attempt to damage the reputation of a highly acclaimed celebrity. I would simply like to take this opportunity to apologise to Shilpa Shetty and her family for my ex-wife's shocking allegations."
