Raj Kundra has been grabbing all the attention recently, especially after the former entrepreneur shed off his infamous mask and announced his film debut with his biopic, UT69. For the unversed, the biopic will be narrating the experiences of Raj back when he was arrested and sentenced to jail in 2021 after alleged embroilment in an adult film racket case. In his personal life, Raj is married to Shilpa Shetty, and the duo is blessed with a son, Viaan and a daughter, Samisha.
Taking to his social media handle, X (formerly known as Twitter), Raj Kundra penned a cryptic note on October 20, 2023. In his post, Raj mentioned having been separated. Although he didn’t clarify whether it meant having any connection with his separation from his wife, Shilpa Shetty, the former businessman asked everyone to give them some time during the difficult phase. His post can be read as:
“We have separated and kindly request you to give us time during this difficult period.”

As soon as Raj Kundra dropped such a cryptic and rather unusual post, eagle-eyed netizens noted the same and expressed their thoughts in the comment section. Since Raj’s post didn’t signify whether the announcement meant that he had separated from his wife, Shilpa Shetty, many netizens expressed their shock. Moreover, a certain section of netizens slammed the entrepreneur and called such an announcement a part of his gimmick for his debut film.
During the trailer launch of his biopic, UT69, Raj Kundra spoke about how he initially wasn’t sure about making a biopic on his jail tenure. He mentioned how one of his friends had approached him to document his jail sentence based on the frequent diary notes that he used to write back then. He then added how the script for his debut also included several letters exchanged between him and his wifey, Shilpa. In his words:
“I said pura I am not gonna go through. Yeh mere notes hai, aap padh lo. Aur saath mein letters bhi the – jo shilpa mujhe likha karti thi aur main unko. He came back after 3–40 days and said humne poori film bana di.”

In a previous interaction with News18, Raj Kundra opened up about his wife, Shilpa’s first reaction to his idea of doing a film, a biopic narrating his real-life experiences during his jail sentence in 2021. He mentioned how Shilpa was initially unsure and apprehensive about the decision and hilariously added how a flying chappal came to his face when she heard it. However, after the filmmaker narrated the entire script to the actress, she understood it and agreed to support it.
