Radhika Apte was once criticised for her looks
Radhika has grabbed attention ever since she stepped into Hindi cinema. When she was cast in Shor In the City, people linked her to her co-star, Tusshar Kapoor. Reports were rife that the two were madly in love and even celebrated Valentine's Day together. Amid the rumors of their linkup, Tusshar’s sister, Ekta Kapoor, subtly hinted at their relationship.
During her appearance on Koffee With Karan in 2011 along with her brother, Tusshar Kapoor, Ekta joked about his relationship with Radhika and indirectly took a dig at her looks. A source from the show’s set said:
“Ekta got a chance to take potshots at Apte during the rapid-fire round. When Tusshar was asked to rate his top five s*xy actresses, he named Kareena, Priyanka, and Katrina and then broke off to think. Ekta then interrupted and said, 'Radhika Apte'. At this, Karan Johar asked, ‘Who is this Radhika?’ to which Ekta sarcastically said, ‘Exactly! Who is she?’ Ekta went on to joke that Tusshar had a bad taste in women and called Radhika ‘horsey’ beautiful.”
Ekta’s dig at Radhika Apte shocked Tusshar. Not only that, Ekta further commented on Tusshar and Radhika’s chemistry and said she hoped it stayed on screen and didn't go beyond that.
Upset by his sister’s take on their relationship, Tusshar made it clear he wouldn't appreciate anyone commenting on his personal life, including his sister, Ekta. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Tusshar said he and Radhika share a strong bond, but he doesn’t want to label it.
Radhika Apte reacted to Ekta Kapoor’s comments about her looks
Years later, when Radhika Apte appeared on Neha Dhupia’s celebrity talk show, No Filter With Neha, she spoke about Ekta Kapoor's comments. Radhika candidly revealed that there was never any bad blood with Ekta, and she had no idea why Ekta made the comment. Speaking about the same, Radhika said, "I still really don’t know why this was said because I met her (Ekta Kapoor) after that, and she was lovely to me."
She further spoke about her linkup rumors with Tusshar Kapoor and said that such negative comments never bothered her. The actress also said she found the rumor funny. Refuting the reports of her dating Tusshar, Radhika said:
“It obviously wasn’t true. I didn’t know (about the promotion tactic). Initially, I was very entertained, because I got an article that I was apparently in Goa celebrating Valentine’s Day with Tusshar Kapoor, and I was studying for my exams in London.”
Speaking of Radhika Apte’s career, she got her first lead role in the Bengali film Antaheen in 2009, and since then, there has been no looking back. With films like Shor In the City, Badlapur, Manjhi - The Mountain Man, Parched, Pad Man, Madly, Lust Stories, Sacred Games, Andhadhun, and many more, Radhika carved her own path in Bollywood.
