R Madhavan's Son, Vedaant On Making His Own Identity, Says Didn't Want To Be Known By His Dad's Name

Bollywood actor, R Madhavan had tied the knot with the love of his life, Sarita Birje in 1999, after dating each other for eight long years. The couple had embraced parenthood in 2005 by welcoming their son, Vedaant. Though R Madhavan is a well-known actor, his son has carved his own name in sports. For the unversed, Vedaant is a professional swimmer and has made his parents super proud by representing India at the global level.

R Madhavan is his son, Vedaant's biggest cheerleader, and he never misses a chance to heap praises on his son. Recently, Vedaant Madhavan had won silver at the Danish Open competition in Copenhagen, and his dad, R Madhavan had shared a video from the award ceremony. Sharing the video, the proud daddy had thanked his son's guru and had written the caption as:

"@vedaantmadhavan wins Silver for India at the Danish Open in Copenhagen. Thank you so much Pradeep sir, #swimmingfederationofindia and #ansadxb for all your efforts. We are so proud."

R Madhavan’s son, Vedaant Madhavan, has made a name for himself after winning a silver medal in swimming at the Danish Open 2022 in Copenhagen. In an interview with Doordarshan India, Vedaant opened up about how he wanted to make a name for himself instead of living under his dad's shadow and being recognised as R Madhavan’s son. He said:

“I didn’t wanna live under my dad’s shadow. I wanted to make name for myself. I didn’t want to be just R Madhavan son.” 

Further in the interview, Vedaant shared that he is grateful to his parents for always believing in him and supporting him. He also opened up about the sacrifices that his parents have made for him and added that they put so much effort for him. In his words:

“They are always looking after me. Both put so much effort. One of the main sacrifices my parents made was to shift to Dubai.”

For the unversed, last year, R Madhavan along with his wife, Sarita, and their son, Vedaant had shifted to Dubai so that his son could easily prepare for Olympics. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the doting daddy had revealed that the swimming pools in Mumbai were closed due to the pandemic so he had made the decision of shifting to Dubai. Adding that Dubai has larger swimming pools, Madhavan had said:

“The larger swimming pools in Mumbai are either closed because of Covid or out of bounds. We are here with Vedaant in Dubai where he has access to large pools. He’s working towards the Olympics, and Sarita and I are right by his side.”
