After Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas made their relationship official on August 18, 2018, by sharing a picture from their roka ceremony in Mumbai, the to-be bride had a fun-filled and glamorous bachelorette bash in Amsterdam and New York City. In December, before taking their wedding vows, Priyanka and Nick had their pre-wedding festivities that included a sangeet, a fun mehendi and a cricket match between the ladkiwalas and ladkewalas! Following this were the two awe-inspiring weddings - a Christian ceremony and a Hindu one at Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur. The newly-weds then travelled to Delhi to host their first wedding reception, which was graced by the Honourable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi amongst other prominent names from the business, politics and fashion world.
December 19, 2018, witnessed the second wedding reception of Priyanka and Nick for their extended family and friends at JW Marriott, Mumbai. Priyanka wore a Sabyasachi outfit and the designer elaborated on the same, “Priyanka Chopra (@priyankachopra) goes India-modern for her Mumbai reception. She wears a brocade corset with a matching lehenga from our Curiosity, Art and Antiquity Project. Heritage zardosi borders are tea-stained and acid-burnt to give the outfit a period feel. Her look is accessorised with a statement Victorian necklace in rose cut and fine cut diamonds, rose cut studs and a Bohemian pile of eclectic bangles from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry collection.”
Finally, on December 20, 2018, Priyanka and Nick are hosting their final post-wedding function, a reception at the ballroom of Taj Lands’ End, Mumbai. From Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan, Kajol, Rekha to AR Rahman, Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh, Kartik Aaryan amongst other celebrities have arrived at the venue. While greeting the media, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas were all smiles for the cameras. But just like at DeepVeer’s reception, the media addressed Deepika as ‘bhabhi’ leaving the newbie bride blushing, here too, the paparazzi referred to Nick as ‘jijaji’, leaving Nickyanka all ‘rolling on the floor laughing’! Priyanka and Nick will finally get over with their wedding functions today, and by the end of this month, the newly-weds will wrap up their professional commitments to go for their honeymoon. In an interview with NDTV, when Priyanka was asked about their honeymoon plans, she reverted, “I have no idea. Right now, I have just work commitments this whole month. And I don’t know. We still haven’t figured out where. I think it’s going to be a surprise though. I think that’s what my husband’s planning." But as per a Mid-Day report, a source close to the couple revealed, "PeeCee and Nick will take off for Switzerland by December 28. Their week-long vacation will include a stopover at Montreux; the two plan to ring in the New Year in the resort town on Lake Geneva. PeeCee wanted to finish her pending assignments before she took off for the honeymoon. Come December 17, she will begin shooting for the new schedule of The Sky Is Pink, while simultaneously supervising the pre-production of her Bengali film, Nalini."
Speaking of how their love story began with a tweet, Nick shared to Vogue, “It started with a direct message on Twitter, in which I said 'I'm hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet.' "She responded with a message that said, 'My team can read this. Why don't you just text me'." Recalling their proposal moment, Jonas was quoted as saying, "I got down on one knee, again, and I said, 'Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?' No joke - she took about 45 seconds."
