Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner filed for divorce on September 5, 2023, after a marriage of four years. The estranged couple is blessed with two daughters, Willa born in 2020 and a one-year-old Delphine. Although Joe and Sophie amicably parted ways and turned to mediation to work through the custody battle for their two children, recently, Sophie sued her estranged husband for wrongful retention of their kids. Since then, there have been multiple reports of the couple having a rough patch with each other.
Now, we learned about an insider's claims about Joe Jonas' sister-in-law, Priyanka Chopra to be caught in the middle of his separation from her close friend and actress, Sophie Turner. For the unversed, Priyanka and Sophie have been quite close to each other for quite a number of years. Not only that, Priyanka also has a lovely bond with Joe and Sophie Turner's daughters, Willa and Delphine. As per a report by Life & Style, Nick Jonas' wife is reportedly being forced to choose sides just like the estranged couple's many other common friends and relatives. Thus, it is quite difficult for the actress to deal with it.

An insider close to them revealed that since Priyanka loves Sophie, Joe and their kids, she is struggling to navigate the breakup and the estranged couple's custody battle. As per the report, ahead of Joe and Sophie's divorce, Nick and Priyanka were also about to shift their base to London. But as destiny had some other plans, Joe and Sophie got separated. The source said:
"Sophie and Joe kept a lot of their friends separate, but a few are caught in the middle of this mess. She and Sophie were very close. There was once a time when Sophie thought she and Joe would move to London and so would Nick and Priyanka. Priyanka loves Sophie and her nieces and doesn’t want to do anything to jeopardise them being in her life."
A few days back, Sophie Turner issued a fresh lawsuit against her estranged husband, Joe Jonas for allegedly restraining their daughters from returning to their mother in England. According to the report, Sophie and Joe met on September 17, 2023, to discuss further arrangements. However, while discussing their daughters, Joe reiterated their agreement for their daughters to return to England to their mother and didn't even return their passports. Afterwards, in a statement on the People’s Magazine, the singer's team responded to Sophie’s petition against him, citing the misleading use of the term abduction. The statement mentioned:
“This is an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending. When language like 'abduction' is used, it is misleading at best, and a serious abuse of the legal system at worst. The children were not abducted. After being in Joe’s care for the past three months at the agreement of both parties, the children are currently with their mother. Sophie is making this claim only to move the divorce proceedings to the UK and to remove the children from the U.S. permanently. The Florida Court has already entered an order that restricts both parents from relocating the children. Sophie was served with this order on September 6, 2023, more than two weeks ago.”

Taking to their respective Instagram handles on September 6, 2023, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas broke the hurtful divorce rumours and acknowledged them. Sharing the same picture notes, the duo penned a brief yet impactful announcement of their divorce and called it a mutually decided one. Further, in the note, the ex-couple also wrote:
“Statement from the two of us: After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
