You must be wondering why Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been missing from Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta's pre-wedding festivities going on in Switzerland, when she shared a selfie on her Instagram with her ‘best travel buddy’, Nick Jonas from Delhi. A few hours later, Priyanka revealed through her another Instagram post, the reason behind her trip to Delhi. Posting a picture of her brother, Siddharth Chopra and her soon-to-be sister-in-law, Ishita Kumar, Priyanka shared the good news of their engagement. But do you know, Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ brother, Siddharth Chopra’s wedding was called off with his once-ladylove, Kanika Mathur? After getting engaged in an intimate roka ceremony in October 2014, Siddharth and Kanika were supposed to marry in February 2015 in Goa, and the preparations began months before the upcoming wedding. Apparently, Priyanka was taking personal interest in the wedding preparations ensuring everything to be perfect.
Kanika and Siddharth were dating each other for over three years before they decided to settle down. Siddharth also went to oversee the wedding preparations in Goa, and posted on his Facebook page in December 2014, "Wedding plans. Early Morning flight to Goa." However, a few weeks later, another post from his account, which left everyone confused. Siddharth had posted, "Single. Ready to mingle. Go Goa Gone. Wish everyone a very happy 2015."
Soon, a source close to Priyanka's family revealed that Siddharth and Kanika’s wedding has only been postponed, not cancelled. "Siddharth wants to concentrate on his career and his new venture (a pub-lounge in Pune). Pushing it ahead was a big decision for both the families. Priyanka is also not in the country at the moment and the wedding cannot take place without her." But as they say, rest is history!
On February 27, 2019, Siddharth Chopra got engaged to Ishita Kumar at Taj Palace, Delhi and they will soon tie the knot. Welcoming Ishita to the family, Priyanka Chopra Jonas wrote on her Instagram handle, “So proud of my baby brother. Ishita welcome to the family.. you r so beautiful together.. I wish you both the best for the funnier! Happy Roka!! @ishittaakumar @siddharthchopra89,” followed by a heart emoji. Dressed in a pink suit and white roses gracing her open hair, Ishita Kumar too shared a lovely picture on her Instagram. Captioning her roka picture with Siddharth Chopra, Ishita wrote, “Can't stop smiling looking at him” followed by a heart emoji.
Speaking about the sibling relationship that she and Siddharth Chopra share, Priyanka Chopra had stated in a throwback interview with Hindustan Times, “We have grown up squabbling and fighting as most siblings do. He is the younger one technically, and so, I did my duty as the older sibling, and bullied him mercilessly. But no matter what I did, he would be there for me, with a smile on his face and love in his eyes. I think the strength of the bond that we share is tremendous. A lot is unsaid between us, but we know that no matter what, we’ll always be there for each other. We used to do a lot of masti (fun). I was the ‘general in command’, and Siddharth was my willing sidekick.”
Reminiscing their growing up phase, PeeCee was quoted as saying, “I bullied him a lot, but I made sure he knew that no matter what, I would always have his back. He had the freedom to be himself, because I was there to protect him.”
On July 12, 2018, posting a series of pictures and videos with Siddharth Chopra and Madhu Chopra, Priyanka Chopra had written a birthday wish for her ‘lil bro’, "Hey hey lil bro.. happiest birthday and all my love and luck.. you have turned into such a special man..
