The 37-year-old had her hands full with the shoot for her ongoing K-drama, Marry My Husband and wrapped up the same on January 11, 2024.
For the unversed, Min Young took a year of hiatus following her involvement in a controversy related to her ex-boyfriend, Kang Jong Hyun, who was accused of embezzlement. She returned to the TV screens with Marry My Husband. However, as soon as Min Young came into the limelight after being MIA for a year, she got embroiled in a controversy related to her ex-boyfriend, Kang Jong Hyun. The latter has been accused of embezzling over KRW 60 billion, which is approximately Rs. 379 crores, in funding from his company, Bithumb and its affiliates.

On January 15, 2024, Dispatch did an expose revealing that the Hallyu actress, Park Min Young indeed received money from her wealthy ex-boyfriend, Kang Jong Hyun. The actress and her agency, Hook Entertainment had previously rubbished off such claims earlier, but now Dispatch has presented evidence proving the transaction of money to Min Young’s account.
Dispatch has reported that the Hallyu actress had previously lied about not receiving money from the controversial businessman, Kang Jong Hyun. According to their report, Park Min Young initially claimed that she was unaware of Kang Jong Hyun's disputed actions while they were dating. She eventually broke up with him when she got to know about them. In 2022, Min Young also stated that she never received any financial support from Jong Hyun. Furthermore, the actress’ sister even resigned from her position as a director for a company affiliated with her ex-boyfriend’s company.
It has been reported that Park Min Young received KRW 250 million, which is around Rs. 1.5 crores, while she was in a relationship with Kang Jong Hyun. The investigation also revealed that the money was sent from Kang Jong Hyun’s company to Park Min Young’s personal bank account using a three-step process. First, the money was taken from Jong Hyun’s affiliate company, then disguised as a loan, and then sent to Park Min Young’s account under the guise of ‘living expenses.’
For the unversed, in 2022, there were many reports that revealed that Park Min Young was in a relationship with a wealthy businessman named Kang Jong Hyun. As soon as the details about their romantic affair broke out, the couple quickly parted ways in September 2022. They announced their breakup to the public while also acknowledging their past relationship.

On January 15, 2024, Park Min Young’s agency, Hook Entertainment released a statement in response to Dispatch’s latest report. It mentioned that the actress was thoroughly investigated in 2023, and the authorities did not find anything illegal about her. The statement also disclosed that the KRW 250 million was used by Kang Jong Hyun and not the actress. Her agency concluded the official statement by urging the media to stop the groundless speculations against Park Min Young. The statement can be read as:
“Hello, this is Hook Entertainment. We are addressing the Dispatch article published today regarding actress Park Min Young’s position. In February 2023, actress Park Min Young was investigated by the prosecution as a reference person regarding the use of her account in another name by Kang Jong Hyun. It was clearly stated that Park Min Young had not engaged in any illegal activities or received any illegal benefits. The 250 million won mentioned in the article was used by Kang Jong Hyun's account, not as Park Min Young's living expenses. Actress Park Min Young has been misunderstood for over a year due to false information. Despite this, she accepted criticism and regretted her actions, focusing more on her acting career. She believes that showing good acting through good works is her role and duty as an actress. We hope that there will be no more baseless accusations damaging the reputation of actress Park Min Young.”
