In the video, the actress was seen teasing her fans about a big surprise and added that she would share the big news soon. She added that when people think that she has changed, she likes to surprise them even more. She was heard saying:
“Aapke saamne ek itna bada news aane wala hai. Mujhe bahut accha lagta hai logo ko surprise karna. Jab voh samajhte hai yeh sudhar rahi hai, tab mujhe surprise karna aur bhi accha lagta hai. Toh ek bahut hi bada news aapke saamne bahut jaldi aane wala hai."

Now that the video has been shared on social media, netizens have expressed their reactions to the same. While some people mentioned that life is unpredictable, others were curious to know what Poonam was hinting at. One user penned, "Isko sun ke lag raha hai that there is something fishy with this news..i still am not able to believe because cancer patients do not look like this for sure when they are so ill". Another wrote, "Yes it's a big surprise she had given, at 32 , always in the news & suddenly going away, unbelievable. May her soul rest in peace."

However, her manager, Parul Chawla confirmed that the 32-year-old model had passed away. In a conversation with India Today, Parul revealed that Poonam Pandey was diagnosed with last-stage cervical cancer sometime back. The model breathed her last while she was in her hometown, Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

On February 2, 2024, a post was shared on the actress' official Instagram handle that confirmed the news of her demise. The post could be read as:
''This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared.''
