Pooja Bhatt Opens Up About Her Breakup With Bobby Deol After Nearly 4 Decades, 'He Is A Married Man'

Bobby Deol is one of the most celebrated, respected and non-controversial Bollywood actors. Over the years, his name has rarely been dragged in any affair or controversy. Well now, Alia Bhatt’s sister, Pooja Bhatt appeared for a candid conversation, during which she opened up about her relationship with Bobby Deol and why they broke up. For the unversed, the two were together in the 1990s.

Recently, Alia Bhatt’s sister, Pooja Bhatt sat down for a candid conversation with Vickey Lalwani, during which she talked about her short-lived acting career and personal relationships. It is worth mentioning that Pooja made her acting debut with the film, Daddy; however, she did not pursue acting as a career. During the conversation, she also mentioned that during that time she was dating someone, who was not in support of her acting.

Later, the conversation shifted to Pooja Bhatt’s most talked-about relationship with Bobby Deol. The two dated each other in the 1990s, before moving on with different people. Talking about Bobby Deol, when Pooja Bhatt was asked if she deeply loved the Animal actor, she admitted with a smile and explained:

"Of course. What's not to fall in love with? It was a magical time of my life, and he was a magical human being to be with."

Further in the interview, when Pooja Bhatt was asked about why her relationship with Bobby Deol ended, the actress chose dignity and decided not to reveal any details. She stated that it is not in good taste to revisit those old wounds. Pooja also acknowledged Bobby Deol’s married life and preferred to stay silent. Pooja Bhatt was quoted as saying:

"He is a married man today, father of grown-up children, has a wonderful new surge in his career. Dignity and grace for the present, for not only your own life but for the people who have been in your life, and the people who they have in their life, is a very important thing to maintain."

In 1996, Bobby Deol married Tanya Deol. Today the couple have been together for nearly three decades and they share two children, Dharam and Aryaman. On the other hand, Pooja Bhatt tied the knot with VJ and restaurateur, Manish Makhija in 2003. However, they eventually parted ways in 2014, after 11 years of togetherness. Currently, she is single. In April 2026, she had a conversation with The Times Of India, during which Pooja Bhatt shared:

"It is glorious. I am enjoying being single. I have been in relationships probably since I was 16. I am as free as a bird now. I am the captain of my own ship. I call my own shots."
