Citing her "unwavering love", the lawyer mentioned Amy looked past Phil's mistakes and focused on his quest for redemption. Tom Clare's exact words were:

"Recovery is not a straight line. Throughout their 35-year relationship, his wife, Amy Mickelson, has supported Mr. Mickelson and their family with extraordinary grace, unwavering love, and the belief that people are measured not only by their failures, but by what they do to make them right."

Phil's lawyer hit back at the claims that the golfer's attitude towards Amy changed after he found out about her breast cancer diagnosis. The legal counsel claimed that, in reality, the opposite was true and that his client was focused on being a family man. He emphasised that Phil stepped away from the PGA Tour in May 2009 to care for Amy and has slowed down his career ever since. His exact words were:

"Mr. Mickelson's priority is to become the husband, father, and man his family deserves. Right now, that means giving his full attention to a private family health matter. He understands that parts of his life are public, but his family's private matters are not."

The alleged encounter between Phil and Ashley occurred in 2015, during the week of The Barclays tournament at the Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey. At that time, Phil made sure that he and his friend, Pat Perez, were staying in a luxurious villa.

Ashley Perez was also there, having fun drinking with her then-husband and Phil Mickelson. At one point, Pat Perez excused himself to use the restroom, and according to Ashley, Phil took advantage of the moment to show her an explicit bare-bodied photo of himself, taken while he was aroused. He allegedly flexed about the image and made Ashley very uncomfortable. He then allegedly made suggestive statements, telling Ashley that he would wait for her in his room after Pat slept. She quoted Phil as saying:

"Phil says to me, 'I'm going to leave my bedroom door open tonight. When Pat falls asleep, I want you to come see me.'"
