Bollywood veteran actor, Paresh Rawal is known for his comic timing and his iconic films. His every character becomes a hit amongst every generation. Paresh has a career spanning over three decades and he has made millions laugh and cry with his work. While we all know about Paresh's acting journey, not many know about his personal life.
For the unversed, Paresh Rawal is married to former Miss India (1979), Swaroop Sampat. The duo had dated each other for twelve years and in 1987, they had tied the knot. Paresh and Swaroop have two sons, Aditya Rawal and Aniruddh Rawal. Paresh's elder son, Aditya has followed in his footsteps and had started his acting career with his debut film, Bamfaad in 2020.
Recently, in an interview with The Times Of India, Paresh Rawal talked about how his wife, Swaroop Sampat reacts to his work and whether his family criticises his characters. To this, Paresh revealed that they never criticise his choice of character, but they do scold him for choosing wrong films. He said:
"Never for the character, but they criticise my choice of films and sometime say, 'Kyu itni ghatiya movie kardi?' Because I get hyper, I have a BP problem, so they are concerned about my health. And I love eating ice creams! So they generally scold me for that."
In the same interview, Paresh also shared his love story with Swaroop. He said that the moment, he had seen her, he had fallen in love with her and had told his friends that one day he will marry her. The actor further revealed that he had no patience to get to know her, so he had simply asked her to say yes. Paresh said:
"I had seen her for the first time in 1975 and I immediately fell in love with her. It might sound weird but I had also told my friend that I will marry this girl. Gradually we met and I asked her, 'See, I am in love with you and I want to marry you. So you commit now as I don't have that patience if you ask me to wait and know each other first.' Because no one can ever know each other. I have seen couples divorcing each other after 60-64 years of marriage. So I asked her to commit to me now or else I am not ready to wait. We dated for 12 years and finally got married in 1987."
Paresh revealed that the understanding between them has grown after so many years of being together. Now, they don't need words to communicate, they understand each other by reading eyes. Paresh called his wife, Swaroop, 'the light of his life'.
On the work front, Paresh Rawal was last seen in Sharmaji Namkeen!
