Amid the trial going on, an almost similar case grabbed significant attention. The case is about an NYC mom who killed her two kids back in 2022. The mom, named Dimone Fleming, who is currently 26 years old, declared not guilty of murdering her two kids, the reason being postpartum psychosis. Apparently, she also lost touch with reality during the brutal killings of her children back in 2022 and believed that she had to kill her kids to save them, something similar to what happened in Lindsay Clancy's case as well. So, amid Lindsay's trial, this incident grabbed significant attention.

The shocking incident took place in November 2022, when Dimone Fleming killed her two kids, 3-year-old Daishawn Fleming and 11-month-old Octavius Canada, at a Bronx family shelter. A neighbor saw smoke and water coming from an apartment, prompting a 911 call. When the police arrived, reportedly, Dimone, who was 22 years old back then, was 'acting irrationally'.
She was taken to the hospital for evaluation; however, the police didn't notice the two kids, as they were told by the neighbors that the little ones were with their father. Police were unable to locate or learn about the two kids who were killed and kept under a pile of clothes in a bathtub until Columbus Canada (father of Octavious) informed them about finding the 3-year-old and 11-month-old unresponsive. Dimone reportedly confessed to killing her kids to the police and also talked about the 'devil' while speaking about the brutal killings that she committed.

Dimone had been charged with first-degree murder. And four years later, the mom of two was declared not guilty of murdering her two kids, on the grounds of insanity. Psychiatrist Dr. Eric Goldsmith, who evaluated Dimone at the request of the prosecution, revealed that the mom of two was 'grossly psychotic and out of touch with reality'. Dimone was hallucinating and believed that the world was coming to an end and that a spirit had taken over her.
Dimone's defense team revealed that she was in the grip of acute psychosis and believed that she had to take the committed actions to protect or cleanse her two children. The Times cited court records and revealed that Dimone was treated at the Queens hospital for two weeks, where she was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and was prescribed psychotropic medication.
However, she reportedly didn't take the medicine and used marijuana regularly, which intensified the situation. After not pleading guilty, Dimone will be held and treated at a psychiatric facility until doctors and the court find her safe and no threat to others or herself. The father of one of Dimone's slain kids, Canada, has forgiven her and mentioned that she was a good person and a loving mother.
This incident is eerily similar to the much-talked-about case involving Lindsay Clancy. Earlier, it was also revealed during the trial that Lindsay believed that she had to kill her kids in order to protect them, and because she felt that they wouldn't be safe without her; thus, killing them would allow them to be together. Lindsay's trial has been ongoing, and amid this, the verdict in the NYC mom case sparked the conversation even more intensely.
