Popular South Indian actor, N.T. Ram Rao Jr., commonly renowned as Jr NTR, is one of the most bankable stars in the country. The Janatha Garage actor is the son of iconic actor and politician, late Nandamuri Harikrishna and the grandson of legendary actor and ex-Andhra Pradesh CM, late N. T. Rama Rao. Thus, acting and stardom are something that he has been used to since his birth. However, there's no denying the fact that Jr NTR has taken the legacy of his family in Indian cinema a notch higher with his blockbuster movies.
With films like Student No. 1, Simhadri, Aadi, Yamadonga, Janatha Garage, Temper, Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava and RRR, the dashing actor had made a statement in the film industry. Also, it is one of the reasons he is often referred to as the most versatile actor in Indian cinema.
On May 28, 2022, Jr NTR took to his Twitter handle and shared a beautiful picture of his late grandfather, N.T. Rama Rao on the occasion of his 100th birth anniversary. Along with the priceless picture of the ex-Andhra Pradesh CM, his grandson penned a sweet one-liner, and it can be read as "Always remembering you." Soon after dropping this heart-melting wish on his social media handle, the doting grandson headed to the famous NTR ghat in Hyderabad. The RRR actor was spotted at the ghat with his brother, Kalyan Ram, as the two can be seen offering their respects to their late grandfather on the special day. In the pictures, while Jr NTR can be seen donning a black T-shirt and a pair of denim, his brother, Kalyan opted for a white shirt and denim. The pictures from the same are now all over the internet. Popular South Indian actor, Jr NTR belongs to the Nandamuri clan, which is famous for giving so many great actors to the Indian cinema over the years. Once in an interview with the IANS, Jr NTR had opened up about his family's legacy in films and how he couldn't escape it, whether he liked it or not. Reflecting on the importance of carrying forward the legacy of his father and forefathers, Jr NTR had also explained how the pressure on his shoulders had made him a good actor in his journey in cinema. He had explained:
"I've been given the opportunity to carry (forward) the legacy with which people associate me; I can't escape it even if I don't like it. I take pride in carrying forward what's been given to me. If there's no load on you, no anchor point, we are free souls and we will be roaming around. We end up doing whatever we feel like. The baggage made me realise who I am and it has kept me grounded."
Going further in the same interview, Jr NTR was asked whether he had ever experienced some restrictions while accepting a certain project because of his grandfather, N.T. Rama Rao's undisputed legacy as an actor. Answering this, Jr NTR had admitted that initially, he had thought of doing a certain set of films, keeping in mind the genre of his family. However, later in his career and especially after his son's birth, Jr NTR had understood that he was never under any sort of pressure from his family's lineage in the South Indian cinema. Talking about the same, he had said:
"I thought it restricted me to certain kinds of films. But I realised later that it didn't, and that I was responsible for my choices. My son's entry into my life changed the way I saw my career -- and my general outlook towards life. We keep thinking of what others feel when we do something. I was meant to be an actor and I realised that only after my son was born. I haven't been fully genuine in what I've been doing. The best thing after my son is my work -- and he taught me to be genuine."
On the professional front, Jr NTR will be next seen in the films, NTR 30, directed by Koratala Siva and NTR 31, helmed by Prashanth Neel.
