Kanye West reportedly has a 'hands-off attitude' towards North West, and Kim Kardashian might be the reason
Exes Kanye 'Ye' West and Kim Kardashian have had disagreements over North's upbringing for a long time. Their 13-year-old daughter, who has big plans and aspirations, has already started working towards them. Recently, North made her solo concert debut in Chicago on September 12, 2026, and has been quite active on TikTok to promote her music and connect with fans.
Meanwhile, a source close to the former couple told In Touch Weekly that Kanye was displeased about North joining TikTok. The source added that he shared his view with Kim Kardashian; however, she paid no heed and let North make her own decisions. Since then, he allegedly detached himself from matters involving North's social media, leading to Kim getting "frustrated."
Kim allegedly wanted Kanye's help in parenting North and imposing strict rules whenever needed. Kim particularly wanted him to intervene in North's social media ventures. However, Kanye has allegedly shown a very "hands-off attitude" and told Kim to deal with North herself. Since Kim let North join TikTok against Kanye's wishes, he decided not to get involved in most issues concerning North's online endeavours. The source was quoted as saying:
"Kim is very frustrated with Kanye because he's refusing to be any sort of voice of reason or discipline for North when it comes to social media...Kanye is still not happy that Kim let North go on TikTok against his wishes, so now he's taking this very hands-off attitude. Any time she wants his help to enforce the rules, he says it's her problem not his because she didn't listen to him in the first place."
While not participating in important matters related to his daughter, Kanye 'Ye' West has allegedly gotten a bit aloof from her, from the parents' point of view. However, according to the source, it may also be a strategic move. By not reprimanding North and leaving the tough parenting to Kim, he has become more like the 13-year-old's close friend.
The insider added that North West considers her dad her "hero" and "idolizes" him. Hence, Kanye would rather stay aloof from disciplining her than lose his spot as her favorite person. The source stated:
"North idolizes Kanye. He could really help guide her, but he's refusing out of spite, and because he doesn't want to damage his relationship with her. He loves being her hero."

When North West debuted her fake face tattoos, black grills (tooth jewellery), and henna hand designs, it allegedly didn't sit right with her father, Kanye 'Ye' West. According to Poprant, sources said that Kanye expressed his displeasure with his daughter's dramatic transformation to Kim Kardashian. The source claimed Kanye felt North was being encouraged to grow up too quickly, and he criticized her fashion choice as "too adult."
Kanye reportedly blamed Kim Kardashian for their daughter being "sexualized" at a young age. He allegedly sent Kim several furious texts, warning her of legal action for encouraging North's bold look. The source also claimed Kim repeatedly ignored Kanye's threats, which explains his latest stance of not getting involved in North's tough parenting.
