India is hosting the 71st edition of the prestigious beauty pageant, Miss World, after 28 years. Miss World 2022 Karolina Bielawska, who hails from Poland, crowned her successor Krystyna Pyszkova from the Czech Republic at the grand event, which took place at Jio World Centre in Mumbai on March 9, 2024. 115 countries, including India’s Sini Shetty, participated to win the coveted crown.
On March 9, 2024, Nita Mukesh Ambani, Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, was bestowed with the 'Humanitarian Award' at the finale of the 71st Miss World competition. Julia Morley, the chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, presented the award to Nita Ambani for her philanthropic work. For those who don’t know, Nita Ambani is known as a businesswoman, educationist, philanthropist, champion of arts and sports, and children and women’s rights. Nita Ambani thanked for this honour and said:
“Thank you for this honour. This honour is not just a personal achievement but a testament to the power of compassion and service that binds us all together. Throughout my journey, I have been guided by the timeless Indian principles of Satyam, Shivam and Sundaram...At Reliance Foundation, we are making a dedicated effort to empower every Indian especially women and young girls with education, health care, sports livelihood and promotion of arts and culture. I accept this award with gratitude and humility.”

Moreover, former Miss World Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who won the coveted crown in 2000, sent a beautiful message on the occasion of the finale of the 71st Miss World. At the beginning of the video, she talked about the significant meaning of the word ‘purpose’ in her life. Priyanka shared how her parents always used their knowledge to help people in need. Further, she called herself lucky as she always had been surrounded by women, who redefined the essence of womanhood. PeeCee showered praises on Julia Morley and said:
“In the year 2000, when I had the opportunity to not just participate but be crowned Miss World, I was introduced to the idea of beauty with purpose, an initiative by Mrs Morley, who reminded us that the title of Miss World wasn’t just about looking good, it was about using the platform to challenge our inner duty. It taught the 18-year-old me that we only make a difference when we walk the walk and talk the talk from the get-go.”

Further in the video, Priyanka Chopra called it her honour and privilege to know Nita Ambani. She revealed that the businesswoman has an eye for detail in everything she does. Priyanka also said that she admires and respects Nita Ambani. Moreover, the actress also mentioned that apart from being an excellent educationist and philanthropist, Nita Ambani is a staunch advocate of the arts of India. Priyanka said:
“I have had the honour and privilege of knowing the phenomenal Mrs Nita Ambani for a few years now. She is someone, whom I admire and respect for everything she does. I have witnessed what happens behind the scenes, and I have witnessed first-hand her passion, commitment, and eye for detail in everything she does. To me, Nita Ma’am epitomises exactly what Mrs Morley tried to instil in our young minds back then. Over the years I have witnessed Nita Ma’am’s profound impact through her various endeavours. She not only is a respectable educationist, philanthropist, and businesswoman but also a staunch advocate and protector of the arts of India.”
At the end of the video, Priyanka shared that Nita Ambani has brought India’s rich culture and art to the global stage. She also mentioned that the businesswoman wears all these hats with a warm smile. Priyanka said:
