When Mukesh Ambani encouraged damaad, Anand Piramal for entrepreneurship

Anand Piramal shares a rare bond with his in-laws and more so with Mukesh Ambani. Their bond is even more special since Mukesh was the first person ever to notice Anand's talents and encouraged him to take up entrepreneurship and start his own business. In an interview for The Economic Times, Anand once recalled how Mukesh Ambani had cleared his dilemma between banking and entrepreneurship by giving him a simple example of cricket. In his words:

“I asked him, whether I should get into consulting or banking? He told me, being a consultant is like watching cricket or commentating about cricket, while being an entrepreneur is like playing cricket. You can’t learn how to play cricket by commentating. If you want to do something, be an entrepreneur in the long term and start now. I told him, you should have told me that when I was 20, not at 25.”
