"End of our story." – this is how Neetu Kapoor had paid her eulogy to late husband, Rishi Kapoor in 2020. Not a long note, but even these four words were enough to express how she had felt and it left her fans heartbroken. Not just Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh had fought the odds to tie the knot in 1980, but even on their marital journey, the couple had faced many ups and downs. Mr and Mrs Kapoor had sailed through every challenge and even till his last breath, she had stood as his strongest pillar of strength by his side. It was on Simi Garewal’s show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal when Neetu Kapoor had thrown some light on her married life with Rishi Kapoor. She had shared that romance is much more than romantic candlelight dinners and going on dates. For her and her husband, romance was more about togetherness and nurturing their children together. And that she felt had made her love story with Rishi Kapoor more romantic than Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
On January 22, 2021, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor would have completed 41 years of their married life. Last year, in April 2020, Rishi Kapoor had left for the heavenly abode after losing his battle with leukaemia and post his demise, their children, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Ranbir Kapoor are trying to fill his void in Neetu Kapoor’s life. To mark what would have been her 41st wedding anniversary with Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor posted a video, comprising of their beautiful memories off-screen and on-screen. The video has the song, Hum Hain Is Pal Yahan from the film, Kisna: The Warrior Poet playing in the background and Mrs Kapoor captioned the post as “Justtt. Would have been our 41 years today”, followed by a heartbroken emoji.
Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor’s close friend, Pinkie Roshan posted a throwback picture of the couple from their wedding reception. This is the same picture that Neetu Kapoor had posted to wish her father-in-law, late Raj Kapoor on his 96th birth anniversary. Pinkie captioned her post as “#this day 22 January you tied the sacred knot of marriage with @neetu54 #we know you are always with her around her wishing her holding her hand #you married a BRAVEHEART #love you neetu dearly#miss you bhaiya fondly.” When Neetu Kapoor had posted this picture, she had written, “Remember n miss both of them!!!” In the picture, Rishi Kapoor had looked suave as always in a white suit which perfectly complemented his wife, Neetu Kapoor’s silver saree that was reportedly gifted to her by her mother-in-law, Krishna Raj Kapoor. To mark this special day, let us take you back to 1980 when Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh had taken their wedding vows. Some black-and-white pictures of Neetu ji had gone viral on social media a few months ago, from her chooda ceremony and her wedding day, and we couldn't help but drool over how beautiful she was looking as a bride! In the picture from her wedding day, we could also spot a young Karisma Kapoor and Sonali Bendre’s husband, Goldie Behl. For the chooda ceremony, Neetu ji could be seen surrounded by her friends, including Rekha, helping the then-bride-to-be with the ritual. Goldie and his sister, Srishti Behl Arya had also shared the wedding picture on their respective Instagram handle, wherein the former had asked his followers to spot him in the photo.
On the radio show, Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor hosted by Annu Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor had recalled the initial days of her meeting with Rishi Kapoor. She had stated, “I had a horrible first meeting with Rishi Kapoor. He had a habit of bullying, so he would comment on my make-up and clothes, and I'd feel so angry. He was actually a brat who would bully everyone and I was very young at that time.
