Moreover, Neena is known for speaking her heart out. She never misses a chance to convey her points clearly and loudly in public. Now, Neena Gupta recalled her struggling days in Mumbai.
In a candid conversation with ETimes, Neena Gupta recalled her struggling days in Mumbai and revealed why she dropped a post on Instagram asking people for work. Elaborating more about it, the actress mentioned that a lot of fake news about her shifting to Delhi was spread in the media during that time. Recalling how people in the industry used to ask her when did she came back to Mumbai or if she was still working, Neena said:
"When I put that post, I had 11,000 followers. A lot of media people spread the news about me that I've shifted to Delhi after I got married and I don't live in Mumbai. But it was far from truth. I was very much here. People in the industry thought that she doesn't work now. People used to ask me, arey tum kab aayi Mumbai? Are you still working?"

Recalling an old incident that made her drop the post on social media, Neena revealed that once, a director's assistant asked her when she came back to Mumbai. Mentioning that his question made her so angry that she penned the post asking people to give her work. Neena also stated that she was afraid of her daughter, Masaba Gupta's reaction, however, the latter penned an emotional note that won her heart.
In the same conversation, Neena Gupta recalled the time when she moved to Mumbai in 1981 with her then-boyfriend. Talking about it, the actress mentioned that she used to work at Prithvi Cafe during her struggling days so that she could get free dinner. Neena also revealed how her then-boyfriend used to taunt her for working at the cafe. Adding how, despite being dependent on her earnings, her then-boyfriend had the guts to mock her, Neena said:
"I told everyone, paisa maangne mein sharam hai, kaam maangne mein sharam nahi hai mujhe. When I came to Mumbai, I used to make bharta at Prithvi cafe so that I get free dinner there. I had come here from Delhi with my boyfriend because I didn't have the guts to come alone. So my boyfriend would tell me, 'Sharam kar, tu bombay naukrani banne aayi hai. Yeh karni aayi hai? 'Woh cigarette ke paise mujhse maangta tha aur kaam karke dinner kamaa rahi hoon toh mujhe aise bol raha tha."

Back in July 2017, Neena Gupta dropped a picture of herself on her IG handle. In the picture, the actress looked beautiful in a simple saree, which she teamed with minimal jewellery and accessories. Sharing the picture, Neena penned a note and informed the industry people that she had not shifted anywhere. Asking for work, Neena wrote:
"I live in mumbai and working am a good actor looking fr good parts to play."
