Nancy Guthrie has been missing from her home in Tucson since January 31, 2026. She had her dinner with her elder daughter, Annie Guthrie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, who later dropped her off at her home. The next day, as she failed to attend the church, her family members filed a missing persons report. For all these months, the investigation has been ongoing, yet no traces of Nancy Guthrie could be found.
It was in the last month only that bones were found near Nancy Guthrie's home, and now, a recent update about the same has surfaced. To mention, there have been reports that Nancy was kidnapped by a close one. Well, the recent conversation is up about the bones that were found near her home. It was on May 7, 2026, when the bones were found by local YouTuber AJ Wysopal in a place that was 5 miles away from Nancy Guthrie's home. Well, according to University of Arizona anthropologist James T Watson, the investigation has been more significant than it usually looks. He has revealed to Fox News earlier that not only bones but an entire skeleton was found.

According to the investigation, which was said to be a prehistoric anthropological investigation, not a criminal investigation, the individual to whom this skeleton belonged was buried hundreds of years ago, or rather, a thousand years ago. As per a recent update, the ceramic artefacts that were found near the burial site provided a helpful insight. And according to the anthropologist, the ceramic artefacts reveal that the individual was a Native American and existed before even language existed. The ancient skeleton has been transferred to the Tohono O’odham Nation for proper handling. Speaking of the artefacts, the anthropologist said:
"All of that contextual evidence allowed me to be pretty sure that this individual was in fact Native American. The ceramics really sort of drove home that point.”

Nancy Guthrie's missing case has been investigated for more than 100 days, and the family keeps hoping that the former is still alive. Recently, Shrieff revealed that the investigators are continuing with the investigation by analysing unknown DNA, biological tests, tips and more.

Santa Fe criminal defence and civil rights attorney John W. Day has earlier commented that the kidnapping possibly was an intentional abduction rather than a random act of violence. According to John, this targeted abduction was done by someone who is close to the Guthrie family and has minute awareness about Nancy's routine, which led the kidnapper to commit the crime. Speaking to Hello!, he said:

"I believe the most credible theories are still the least sensational ones. Law enforcement has consistently indicated they believe this was an intentional abduction tied to Nancy Guthrie specifically, rather than a random crime."
To mention, at the beginning, Tommaso Cioni, Nancy's son-in-law, grabbed significant attention as he was the last person to drive her home. Chris Nanos earlier dismissed all the assumptions and theories that Annie, Tommaso, or any family members have been involved in this case. However, so long as the investigation points to the targeted abduction being caused by someone familiar, people again started to track every past move of Annie and Tommaso. Several ransom notes were received by the family members as well, and several publications also had their hands on the demands from the alleged kidnapper, but most of the investigation, till now, couldn't track Nancy Guthrie, even after 100 days of her disappearance.

What do you think about the recent update regarding the ancient skeleton that was found near Nancy's home?
