The authorities believe that Nancy was abducted involuntarily, and they have yet to name the suspect or make any arrest.
Even the Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, stated that the investigators were aware of the criminal's motive, but they did not reveal more information about it. However, Coffindaffer had revealed that there was some connection related to the Nancy and Scottsdale home invasion case. He had shared on X:
“I have been speaking about a wrench attack that took place literally about 90 minutes North of Nancy's house, the day before Nancy was attacked, since early March."
Coffinder had hinted that a day before Nancy was kidnapped, there was a reported home invasion case that had taken place in Scottsdale, Arizona. Nancy's disappearance was like linked to a scheme where the kidnapper wanted to steal millions of dollars, like in cryptocurrency. A user had said on the same, "Porch guy" was eliminated. He couldn't even do what he was hired to do. So why keep him around. Now there's just 1 person walking around and if he talks, he'll be heading to prison for life or the death penalty."
