More about Nana Patekar

Nana Patekar, who was born in 1951, began his acting career in 1978 and went on to star in several other movies, including Parinda, Prahaar, Angaar, Salaam Bombay, and Tirangaa. Known for his intense screen presence, Nana Patekar once spoke to Siddharth Kannan, revealing that he was too violent and that people were scared of him. According to him, if he hadn't been in the industry, his temper might have led him to 'join the underworld'. Even though, the actor said that, his grounded nature was one of the best qualities in him, which left his fans even more in awe of him.

While Nana Patekar was a dedicated actor, he not only did many patriotic films, but his love for the nation led him to serve his country during the 1999 Kargil War. When he was preparing for the movie Prahaar, he underwent a training process with the Maratha Light Infantry.

During the 1999 Kargil War, he expressed his desire to join the forces to serve the country. Nana's wish was denied repeatedly, even by the then Defense Minister, George Fernandes. However, he convinced George Fernandes and joined the forces. Speaking about the same, Patekar shared on KBC:

“I knew our Defence Minister George Fernandes ji, so I called him. Even he said it is impossible. I told him that even though the training for commission is six months, I trained for three years. He was surprised and asked me about it. After learning of my experience with the Maratha Light Infantry, he asked me, ‘When do you want to go?’”

We wish Nana Patekar's family the strength to deal with this tough time!
