Nakuul Mehta is a popular name in every household. The actor never ceases to mesmerise his fans with his handsomeness and stellar performances. Be it his role as 'Shivaay' in Ishqbaaz or 'Ram' in Bade Acche Lagte Hai 2, the actor always aced his roles on-screen. Not only has he aced his performances in reel life, but he is also doing a great job as a parent in real life. For the unversed, Nakuul married singer, Jankee Parekh on January 28, 2012. And then, after nine years, the duo welcomed their baby boy, Sufi Mehta, on February 3, 2021. However, in a recent interview, Sufi's doting father, Nakuul talked about his parenting style.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Nakuul Mehta shared that he never wants his son to be within the limits. By the limits Nakuil mentioned what is typically referred to as masculinity, i.e., he would never ask his son not to cry like a girl. Sharing the details about the same, Nakuul mentioned that he and his wife, Jankee Parekh have already discussed the same. He also shared that phrases like 'don't cry like a girl' should never be pronounced in front of their two-year-old baby boy, Sufi. The actor also added that, being an extended family, Sufi has met with some individuals who say such things in front of him, for which there remains an ongoing struggle between him and Jankee to see whether they need to be corrected. Nakuul mentioned:
"Saying things like ‘don’t cry like a girl’ is an absolute no in front of Sufi. Between my wife Janki and me, it’s something we have consciously spoken about. But he happens to meet people in his extended family, who say it, so there is a constant battle between us two if they need to be corrected."

Further in the interview, Nakuul Mehta shared that he and his wife always let their son, Sufi express himself. The actor is an adorable father and husband and that can be proved when he explains how he and Jankee want Sufi to know that both his papa and mumma can have work days and both can work hard. Having said that, Nakuul marked that he would never let his son be influenced by the stereotypes that ask women in society to be restricted. Nakuul stated:
"I feel boys have this pressure to prove their masculinity, and we often raise girls to cater to the fragile egos of men. We teach our girls to restrict themselves, have ambition but not too much, and be successful, but not too much. But it’s okay to be vulnerable. I share with Sufi how my day was, so does my wife. We both want him to know that his papa and mumma both can have weak days too. I don’t stop myself from being emotional in front of him. He has his low days when he cries and gets cranky, but we don’t stop him from expressing himself."

Earlier this month, Nakuul took to his IG handle and dropped a video that featured him wearing a skirt. Although the video received a lot of praise, a certain section of netizens remained unimpressed about the same. Taking about the same, the actor, in his recent interview, shared that like Pride month, the video was also about inclusivity, and it was loved by many. He also mentioned that he brought the clothes from the women's section and asked if wearing such feels comfortable, then why should traditional notions restrict him. Nakuul added:
"Almost everyone else loved it, and said just like Pride Month, this video is also about inclusivity. People said this is the kind of masculinity we need. Earlier too, before Covid, I had done an entire shoot in gender fluid clothes, which were actually bought from the women’s section. If I feel comfortable wearing something, why should traditional notions restrict me?"
