Moushumi Chatterjee Revealed What She Did When Husband's Friend Tried Putting His Hand On Her Waist

Moushumi Chatterjee Revealed What She Did When Husband's Friend Tried Putting His Hand On Her Waist

Moushumi Chatterjee is one of the leading ladies in the 70s. She was counted as one of her generation's highest-paid actresses in the Hindi cinema industry. For the unversed, she was just ten years old when she made her acting debut in the movie, Balika Vadhu. Since then, she worked in many films and was also rumoured to have been in relationships with many actors of her time. However, she gave her whole heart and was happily married to the love of her life, Jayant Mukherjee, who is also the famous singer, late Hemant Kumar's son. 

Moushumi Chatterjee opened up about why she got married at 15

In an interview with Lehren, Moushumi Chatterjee once shared that she was in 10th standard when she got engaged to Jayanta Mukherjee. The Roti Kapda Aur Makaan actress revealed that it was due to the wish of her bua, who was fighting against cancer in the last stage and wanted to get Moushumi married. Thus, her father-in-law, Hemanta Kumar suggested her to get married. Moushumi said:

“My father was very close to his elder sister and she was in the last stage of cancer. Her last wish was to see me getting married. So, my father-in-law suggested that the wedding should happen. I even skipped my exams. I also got a film around the same time. Everything was just falling into place.”

Moushumi revealed that she never understood the meaning of success

Moushumi Chatterjee and Jayant Mukherjee became proud parents of two adorable girls, Payal Mukherjee and Megha Mukherjee. In 2019, Moushumi Chatterjee's older daughter, Payal Mukherjee passed away. During the same media interaction, Moushumi revealed how, soon after her marriage, she got everything she ever wanted. Moreover, at that mere age, she was unable to understand the real meaning of stardom and shared:

"At the age of 17, I became a mother. I got my own Mercedes. I didn’t even understand the meaning of success at that time. I just used to get happy seeing my face on the big screen."

Moushumi revealed her nature while hailing from a conservative family

Afterwards, Moushumi was heard talking about being from a conservative family. She mentioned how for the same, one of her husband's female friends has also taunted her by saying that her mind wasn't clean and she is very conscious. However, the actor said, "I was like, why should I hug and kiss unnecessarily? It is not even our culture.” Following this, she narrated an incident, wherein her husband's male friend had kept his hand on her waist and she soon strictly asked him not to do so. She added:

“After pack-up, I don’t want an actor to keep his hand on my shoulder. Once my husband’s friend tried to put his hand on my waist. I was like ‘Don’t!’ He said, ‘But your husband has put his hand around my wife’s waist’. I said, ‘It’s because your wife has allowed it, but I haven’t’.”

Moushumi recalled giving a savage response to Mahesh Bhatt, telling her that pregnancy would harm her career

Earlier, in another interview with a leading channel, Moushumi had opened up about her acting career. Further, she shared how the critically acclaimed director, Mahesh Bhatt once told her that her pregnancy would harm her career. Revealing how Mahesh used to say that actresses used to get pregnant whenever their career goes up, she mentioned how he called those pregnancies obstacles. However, Moushumi admitted that she told him how getting pregnant added colour to her life.
